Is binary firmware still necessary for GTX660 card (NVE0 family) in order to use DRM and/or VDPAU video acceleration?
Hello, I run the Gentoo Linux distribution and use a self-compiled Linux 3.10.17 kernel. According to [1] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallDRM/ [2] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoAcceleration/ I need the original firmware from the binary driver in order to sucessully use DRM and to use VDPAU video acceleration. I used the python script from [2] and I had a look at the ebuild

Hi, just a note for everybody who stumble across this thread in the future in order to bring this thread to a proper end. If I run the kernel with nouveau.debug="PVP=debug,PBSP=debug,PPPP=debug" I see messages about the firmware files gettings loaded. If the firmware files are missing, I get some warnings/errors. So far everything works as expected. But if I invoke

Installation / configuration
I'm trying to install Wine 20011004. ./tools/wineinstall crashed my box so I went for manually installing. When I try ./tools/winecheck I get a 024. Checking availability of windows registry entries... CRITICAL (entry "Default Taskbar" not found). Then it tells me, as an advice, that the windows registry isn't installed. I did a ./programs/regapi/regapi setValue <

Compression of existing FLAC files
Hope you can help, I'm quite new to this, so... I got a Squeezebox 3 and started ripping with Easy CD-DA Pro to FLAC, and set compression to 0 in the ignorant belief that compression might degrade the file. Now I've got over a Tb of files that I plan on migrating to larger drives. In the process, I'd like to apply an appropriate level of compression. Is there a tool and

fileserver RE bug in 0.24.1
I tried to open a Trac ticket on this, but the menus are not working for some reason right now. I''ve noticed this in our puppetmasterd logs since upgrading: puppetmasterd[7943]: Could not call: nested *?+ in regexp: /^\/var\/www\/html\/download\/NSClient++-0.2.7.zip/ Seems like the data passed should have RE characters quoted (ala \Q...\E in Perl) prior to this test. Problems with nls
I'm trying to fit the Bass Diffusion Model using the nls function in R but I'm running into a strange problem. The model has either two or three parameters, depending on how it's parameterized, p (coefficient of innovation), q (coefficient of immitation), and sometimes m (maximum market share). Regardless of how I parameterize the model I get an error saying that the step factor has

sftp client
As of Sunday evening, OpenSSH has an interactive sftp client. It should be in the more recent snapshots. It would be appreciated if you could test new client and find all the bugs :) Please also have a read of the manpage and ensure that it matches what is implemented. I am working on fixing the ones that I know about, so please try to stay up to date with the snapshots. Thanks, Damien

Bass response with Ogg Vorbis
I'm a bass player, I admit it. I came across a number of people talking about bass response with Ogg Vorbis and it piqued my interest, I live for this stuff. I am using the Ogg files to distribute songs as converted right from the 32 bit masters. This is a much different thing than ripping a 16 bit CD audio file that has been mushed and compressed much before it winds up as an Ogg file. When
