The 2.3 branch and Rails Edge failing
I found Brandon''s 2.3 branch for Facebooker and thought I''d give that a try to get around the problems I ran into starting script/server with Rails Edge. Unfortunately, no go. The error I get on start up is: > /Users/user/Sites/iwr2/vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/ > dependencies.rb:440:in `load_missing_constant'': uninitialized > constant

Setting :canvas => false for URL generation doesn''t always work?
I generate a lot of URL''s in my Facebook related code that point to our main site, not our FB app. My understanding was that the way to do this was to use ":canvas => false" as a parameter to url_for and link_to and so on. However, that doesn''t seem to generate the proper URL''s. The URL''s still point to apps.facebook.com (because they

facebook_url_rewriter not used in Publisher?
As per my last email, I''m generating links to our app outside of Facebook. Sorry for the onslaught of emails on this. I do link generation in Publisher based code as well. What I''m finding is that the Facebooker UrlRewriter doesn''t get used in Publisher. This makes sense if we assume that Publisher can be used outside of an HTTP request, and things like the

Login_Engine: trouble configuring
Hi Guys, I''m having some trouble getting login_engine to work. I''ve followed the steps in the README file to the letter (I think) with the exception of the Mailer stuff and cannot get my application to run. Heres what I have; module ApplicationHelper include login_engine end ##################################### require ''login_engine'' class

facebook_url_rewriting.rb
Here''s the fix for Facebook apps that specify a controller in their callback URLs. First, set this variable in your environment scripts: ENV[''FACEBOOKER_CALLBACK_PATH''] = ''/controller'' # where controller is the name of your Facebook controller And then patch vendor/plugins/facebooker/lib/facebooker/rails/facebook_url_rewriting.rb as shown in the

Noob needs help installing backgroundrb on Windows XP
Hey Guys, In the readme for Backgroundrb it says that windows support has been depcreated for this version, but then it goes on to mention how to use it in Windows. So I''m not sure if it should be running on windows or not, so I''ll ask anyway. Also, I''m new to ruby and I''m also new to server administration, so I apologize if my questions are pretty

canvas url rewriting fails for templates loaded through ajax
I just encountered a bug that caused the links in my partials to be generated as non-canvas routes when the partial was loaded via ajax. This bug is due to facebooker url rewriting checking for fb_sig_in_canvas to determine if the application is running in or outside a canvas, and fb_sig_in_canvas is not sent for ajax requests. My hacked together patch diff is below, sorry I didn''t have

alias_method_chain in Facebooker Causing Stack Level Too Deep
I installed the Facebooker plugin and upon placing it on a staging server, I keep running into stack level too deep errors. It seems to stem from Facebooker using alias_method_chain to override some of the ActionController methods. I believe it''s getting loaded twice causing confusion. I''ve tried various methods include wrapping a unless respond_to?(:method) around the

Introducing facebooker.yml
If you are using facebooker as a plugin, you can now have all your configuration in one place, namely config/facebooker.yml. You can create this file with rake facebooker:setup. It is also generated when you install it as a plugin. It has a similar setup to database.yml with sections for each environment. You can also configure your ssh reverse tunnels. If you are upgrading, make sure to

custom menu plugin not working in 0.4.4
I was pushing out a new version of a site I have that I think was last generated with webgen 0.4.1. Since my gems are updated to 0.4.4 I''m getting this error when running ''webgen''. I''ve reverted back to 0.4.2 and that is the version where this custom vertical menu plugin starts breaking. So I''m not sure what has changed to cause this. I get this

More on routing, relative_root and facebooker
Hey there! I would like the discussion to continue on how facebooker handles routes, as it appears that there is an unsolved issue. Mike, I read your recent reply involving setting facebook''s callback_path to the root of the rails app, and adding a route to catch all calls to the app root where canvas => true. I just want to point out this is counterintuitive to some folks and

Having trouble getting Edge Rails running
Hello, I''ve been playing with this for hours, and got through a couple glitches (e.g. updating to Ruby 1.8.4) but this one is well beyond my N00b skills. When trying to run script/server I get: ./script/../config/../vendor/rails/activesupport/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:87:in `as_load_path'': stack level too deep (SystemStackError) from

simple routing & linking question
So I have an existing app & facebook app in same rails application, for now I have decided to go the route of creating a controller for facebook stuff (called FaceController). (setup is canvas, fbml) So I have: facebook config http://myurl:myport/face/ My controllers name is face, so I dont even need a manual route, for the landing page it works like a charm. but, when I try to make
