Apache22+mod_proxy+mongrel+ssl
I am trying to move a Rails application, that uses SSL, from an
Apache/FastCGI stack, that works fine, to Apache22 and mongrel
working with a single mongrel instance (i.e., not mongrel cluster, yet.)
I have a single mongrel instance demonized and working fine on http,
on port 3000. Apache/OpenSSL/certs working fine.
Here is my test http.conf (deliberately kept as simple as possible):

mongrel cluster (+ Apache 2.2.4 + proxy balancer) not redirecting correctly
I''m in the process of setting up a mongrel cluster at the moment, and I''m
running into a bit of an issue. Even worse is that I''m not sure whether
this is a mongrel thing, or an Apache thing. While I''m inclined to think
that this might be a balancer thing, I decided there was a higher chance
hearing back from mongrel-users than from apache-users, so I''d

X-Forwarded-Proto / X_FORWARDED_PROTO
Eric,
think I came across an issue with the parser in unicorn, with a request
(due to 2 layers of nginx proxying) coming across with both a
X_FORWARDED_PROTO and a X-Forwarded-Proto header. From the socket (in
HttpRequest) - we get:
X_FORWARDED_PROTO: http
X-Forwarded-Proto: https
which is parsed to
HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO"=>"http,https

NOT FOUND error
I''ve been hunting the web and reading the mailing lists all day but
I''m not finding any guidance on this problem. When I try to talk to my
mongrel it simply responds with NOT FOUND and nothing else. I can''t
find anything on google because this has to be the second most commond
phrase in existence.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

mod_proxy, mongrel, redirect issue
Hello,
I am configuring apache 2.2 to serve my rails app through mongrel at
the root of my server. First, I redirect all http traffic to https
with the following:

RedirectPermanent / https://emiliano #this server is only accessed internally
</VirtualHost>
Inside the <VirtualHost *:443> section, I have the following

Apache 2.2, ProxyPass and HTTPS
Hi all,
I''m currently trying to get Mongrel running my app whilst fronted by
apache 2.2 in a sub-directory via https. A bit convoluted I''ll grant
you but necessitated by existing systems.
The pertinent parts of my httpd.conf:
<VirtualHost 123.123.123.123:12345> #historic choice of random port number
DocumentRoot /var/www/admin
ServerName admin.example.com:12345

ssl breaks rails app
I''m a newbie both with rails and configuring a server so I appreciate
any help available.
I developed my rails app and deployed it successfully on apache using cgi.
Next I successfully configured mod_ssl for apache. I point my browser
to https://myserver and VIOLA , I see the index page in
../myapp/public/index.html .
But when I try to get to one of the controllers, the routing seems

Re: Passing env var from Apache to Mongrel
Hi Yan,
If you just need to access the env var which doesn''t change like
SERVER_NAME, you should be able to access it directly using "request".
However, if your env var is dynamicly set, you can try my way.
I use mod_rewrite to proxy to Mongrel. In your httpd.conf (you need mod_header)
RequestHeader set X_YOUR_ENV your_value
And in Rails access it by

So I''m still working on a ''perfect'' setup so I can document it on the wiki,
and will submit some puppet patches against 0.23.2 next week, but here''s
what I''ve done that has made a big difference to stability here.
in puppetmasterd at line 261, I''ve modified the Mongrel instantiation from:

apache+ssl+cgi problem
I''m a newbie both with rails and configuring a server so I appreciate
any help available.
My rails app works until I add ssl - then the routing seems to break.
In ssl_error_log I have:

ssl_requirement problems - https --> http
I am having problems with the SSL Requirement plugin.
It redirects to HTTPS no problem.
Problem is when I want it to leave HTTPS it stays!
Have put the following in apache ssl config:
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerName codegarden.co.uk:443
ProxyPass / http://localhost:4003/
ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:4003/
ProxyPreserveHost On
RequestHeader set X_FORWARDED_PROTO

Endless Redirects with Ssl_Requirement
I''m running an application on mongrel with apache 2.2.3. SSL works
fine when I enter an https manually. But when I use the plugin, I get
an endless redirect.
Got the same error when I tried running the following simplified
version of SslRequirement from within an action:
unless request.ssl?
redirect_to "https://#{request.host}/#{request.uri}"
end
So there must be a

Problems with ProxyPass to a local ip (using SSL)
Hi all,
I am trying to setup an apache virtualhost under CentOS 6.7 that needs to redirects requests from port 444 to port 5100 in its local ip. But I am doing some mistakes because every time I'm receiving a loop error.
My actual httpd's config for this virtualhost is:
NameVirtualHost 192.168.1.5:444
<VirtualHost 192.168.1.5:444>
ServerName myweb01.local.domain

https problems
I''m having a problem but don''t know what is causing it so I don''t know
exactly where to post, please bear with me.
I''m trying to set up https access however whenever I go to https://url_for_site
the root route renders but the url is rewritten to http://url_for_site.
The ssl request shows in the apache logs but obviously no further ssl
requests show up.

need help writing a plugin
Hi,
I''m halfway developing a tiny plugin that allows people to scrub flash
video files. I''ve got my plugin setup to monitor a directory /movies.
Whenever a .flv file is requested within that directory, some stuff
should happen, if not, the request should be processed as usual. I don''t
know how to do the latter..

Pass env var from Apache to Mongrel?
I use Apache to serve the static pages and let Mongrel handle Rails
requests via mod_rewrite/proxy. Apache RewriteRule can set
environment variable on the fly, and this is one of the features I
used, set an env var based on domain name.
I used to use SCGI Runner which was fine as the env var was passed to
Rails via scgi protocol. I seems can''t find a way to set env var in

[PATCH server] oVirt server single network installer
Updates the installer to handle the scenario in which the guest and
admin networks are the same by using an alternative httpd conf.
Verified to work (eg oVirt managed vms are bootable) on the
oVirt appliance so far.

something wrong with mongrel?
Hi all,
I''ve followed http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMongrel
for configuring my puppet with mongrel.
Al seems to work fine, except that, after a reinstall of 40 nodes atone
time, I got many kind of errors like:
