PXELinux Kernel NFS Root Errors
Hi
This is a PXELinux problem that I'm facing. The problem, in brief, is that I
have a set of diskless nodes (AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 256MB RAM) connected via
an internal 172.20.0.0/24 network to a dual AMD Opteron running SuSE Linux 8.3
for AMD64. I want the remote machines to diskless boot off the main server and
run independently. The diskless machines have a PXE-compliant BIOS for

NFS root on problem on Xen Debian
Hi,
I have Xen (unstable) on two Debian Sarge 2.4.27

the nfs client. I am trying to set up NFS root so that
I can live migrate my domains from one to another.
My /etc/exports on N1(10.5.144.29)

nfs root filesystem problem
Hi ,
I am doing some tests with klibc 1.1.16. I would like to have my
root file system on an nfs export , but the /etc folder it to be mounted
from a different nfs export.
I am using 2.6.15.1 with initrd ramdisk initramfs nfsroot etc
compiled in. My pxelinux.cfg looks like this:
default opteron
label opteron
kernel gentoo/vmlinuz-opteron
append initrd=gentoo/initramfs.img ip=dhcp

Linux client cannot mount to NFS-Root: Portmap RPC call returned error 101
Hello all,
I have seen various reports on this error posted in the past few
years, but was unable to find a resolution to the various postings.
I've googled the error messages too, and have hit on various sporadic
similar problems encountered with no resolutions ..
Apologize if this has been exhaustively queried upon in the past;
however, I'd like to try asking again, nevertheless:

Root-NFS not mounting using PXELinux - error 101
I seem to be having trouble getting the NFS root filesystem to mount after
the kernel boots. As per thread from 2002 16 January
(http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/syslinux/2002-January/000028.html), I
double checked my DHCP config files, but to no avail. It cannot seem to
attach to the mountd port on the bootserver. Here is some output from the
kernel:
loop: loaded (max 8 devices)

Using different NFS server
Hi to all,
I'm trying to install PXE boot + NFS for diskless boot for Linux system. So
everything looks fine until I tried to use other NFS server to mount root
file system.
So I try just to change parameter in pxelinux.cfg files
Append nfsroot=to_new_nfs_server:/new_root_dir
But in boot process I received rootserver: TFTP/DHCP server rootpath:
<empty>

rootfilesystem over a RAM disk for XEN. Has anyone done that before?
Thanks,

new install of Xen 4.6 hangs on Loading initial ramdisk
First post to this list. I would appreciate some help on this issue.
As background, I installed CentOS 7 on a Dell server, and then ran the following commands:
yum update http://buildlogs.centos.org/centos/7/virt/x86_64/xen/centos-release-xen-7-11.el7.x86_64.rpm
yum --enablerepo=centos-virt-xen-testing update

NFS error 101, again
Hi,
I've got another one... NFS error 101 with NFSROOT has been discussed a
lot, and hpa gave an answer to it which appears right. It's ENETUNREACH,
and I suspect my diskless box does not set its IP parameters right.
PXElinux is set up as follows:

kernel kernel-linvdr
append initrd=initrd-linvdr acpi=off root=/dev/nfs \

Looking for ways to save space - AKA how to boot multiple machines from the same root
I have several machines, same hardware and config, but one tiny little
change.. the hostname. Each one of these diskless machines needs its own
hostname.
Presently my pxelinux.cfg is setup like:

APPEND root=/dev/nfs rw ip=dhcp

VFS: Cannot open root device, pxelinux nfsroot
Hi everyone,
I got the error:

Please append a correct "root"boot option
The strange thing is that it tries to mount from harddisk. This I got somewhere else:

probs running stuff from initrd
Hello all
Now I may be way of whack here, so please forgive me.
I''m trying to merge xen with redhat''s config-netboot. The idea being a
kinda stateless domU. For those that haven''t seen you share a rootfs and
then bind mount all the individual files over then top, and the redhat
gui builds all the pxeboot config and stuff for you if you want a
diskless client. I

Yes it is possible. Not sure why you posted this to syslinux though.

TCP checksum change in RPC replies within XEN, NFS lockup (SLES10)
Hello,
my apologies for not being sure whom to tell this problem, but it is very strange.
Let me tell the story:
I''m using XEN (3.0.2) with SLES10 (x86_64, SunFire X4100). On one machine I have
three virtual machines ("DomU") that are very identically configured (SLES10
x86_64 also). There is also a SLES9 (i386) acting as a multi-homed NFS server.
I can mount and access a

Q: HOWTO manually boot SLES10 installation
Hi,
in SLES10 YaST insists in "xorg-x11" being installed, even if the display is
redirected to a remote host. So I thought: Can''t I do it simpler?
I''m still new to XEN, but I started like this:
mount the SLES10 DVD to /mnt, and use this configuration file:
-----
disk = [ ''phy:/dev/system/as1,hda,w'', ''phy:/dev/hda,hdb,r'' ]
