Regarding the project "Create LoopNestPass"
Hi, I would like to give a quick update on what my current design and implementation go like. Basically, the `FunctionToLoopPassAdaptor` is now modified to a generic version `FunctionToLoopUnitPassAdaptor`, which allows re-using the existing codes to implement `FunctionToLoopNestPassAdaptor`, with the help of additional metadata associated with `Loop` and `LoopNest`. Both

Regarding the project "Create LoopNestPass"
Hi, Thanks for your help! I've checked the sources that you mentioned. Currently, I think that I would need to implement a FunctionToLoopNestPassAdaptor which is essentially the same as the FunctionToLoopPassAdaptor but operates only on LI.getTopLevelLoops(). We might also need a LNPMUpdater (LoopNestPassManagerUpdater) which disallows adding inner-loops back into the pipeline, and

Function optimization pass
Hi Philip, Thanks for the response. Under llvm-5.0.2 and llvm-6.0.1 in Debug mode, the crash hit at the same assertion: /usr/local/include/llvm/IR/PassManager.h:689: typename PassT::Result& llvm::AnalysisManager<IRUnitT, ExtraArgTs>::getResult(IRUnitT&, ExtraArgTs ...) [with PassT = llvm::InnerAnalysisManagerProxy<llvm::AnalysisManager<llvm::Loop,

RFC: Getting ProfileSummaryInfo and BlockFrequencyInfo from various types of passes under the new pass manager
Hi all, To implement more profile-guided optimizations, we’d like to use ProfileSummaryInfo (PSI) and BlockFrequencyInfo (BFI) from more passes of various types, under the new pass manager. The following is what we came up with. Would appreciate feedback. Thanks. Issue It’s not obvious (to me) how to best do this, given that we cannot request an outer-scope analysis result from an inner-scope

Queries Regarding Usage of PGOInstrumentation Passes instead of Deprecated ProfileInfo
Hey all, I have a piece of code (written in LLVM 2.8) which uses profiling results produced by ProfileInfo. It essentially computes the number of iterations performed by a loop from the profiling information available. The code snippet in my pass looks something like this. BasicBlock *header = loop->getHeader(); ProfileInfo &pi = getAnalysis< ProfileInfo >(); for(pred_iterator

InductiveRangeCheckElimination and BranchProbabilityInfo
Hi, extractRangeChecksFromBranch uses BranchProbabilityInfo to decide whether its worth trying the InductiveRangeCheckElimination transformation. For the following example: void split() { for (int i = 0; i < 100; ++i) { if (i < 99) do_something() else do_something_else() } } But the reported BPI is reported as 50/50 to whether do_something will be called, but we

Function optimization pass
This question has been submitted to stackoverflow (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51934964/function-optimization-pass) but someone suggested me that it should be submitted to llvm-dev mailing list instead. I'm sorry for the duplication. I am trying to use PassBulider and FunctionPassManager || to optimize a function in a module, what I have done is: mod = ...load module from LLVM

[LLVMdev] FYI: Planning to remove ProfileInfo and related passes from LLVM
Hi Chandler and Alastair, I have been using the Profile.pl and the related passes and optimizations for about 4 years now. With every new release lately, the support for the profile scripts and their framework seemed to be downgrading. Hence, I used my own tiny one line fixes to keep them working. I offered to send these small patches to keep these scripts working, to the LLVM dev so that others

Regarding the project "Create LoopNestPass"
Hi, I'm a college student who is quite new to the community and is interested in contributing to the LLVM project. Although I haven't applied to GSoC, I notice that the project "Create LoopNestPass" seems to be unassigned. So I'm curious whether anyone is currently working on it, and if not, is it possible for me to work on it as a side-project? I've been programming in

[LLVMdev] FYI: Planning to remove ProfileInfo and related passes from LLVM
Hello folks, I'd like to remove all of the old and defunct profile info passes from LLVM. These have been almost entirely supplanted by the BranchProbability and BlockFrequency systems, which are actually on by default, and in use in optimization passes. The old system is not on, and hasn't been touched in years except to do minor build fixes and updates. As far as I'm aware, the
