Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems, then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the kernel normally, I get the error: "MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC" I can

Perhaps you're trying to push zenity past what it's intended to be, a quick method for gathering input and presenting output from bash scripts and the like. If you need something fancier than that, you

dialog boxes on X
All, I have been looking at zenity to pop up messages on the X screen. Is there another alternative to zenity that I have not found? I need to be able to completely remove the OK button, I cannot find a way in zenity to do this. also It would be nice to have a --timeout 5 option on the command line also. Any suggestions? Jerry

Hi, I have been trying to install winetricks on 10.04.1 LTS but I am having no success. Does anyone know what the problem is? I get the following errors: > wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\gearsec.exe" > winetricks: 4382: cannot create /home/bandito/.wine/dosdevices/c:/winetrickstmp/zenity.sh: Permission denied > winetricks: 4382: cannot create

zenity issue with latest Centos 7 update
zenity --width 800 --entry The window width comes out at 800 as expected, but the bar to type your entry into extends only about 1/4 of the way across the window, instead of all the way across like it did before I did the v1708 update. I'm using Centos 7 with Mate. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Real D 3D Digital Cinema ~ www.melvilletheatre.com

display pop up message on X
Is there a method to display pop up messages on X display? I found xmessage, however I was hoping for something a little more flexible. like being able to tell xmessage to display a file (typically one line in the file). then send it a signal to tell it to re-read the file and show the new data. Sure I can kill it and re-show it but that isnt very nice... Is there something available in centos

SortHelper problem
I have TableA with name, description, start time displayed on one page. TableB has name, comment, file path and is displayed on another page. I''m using the SortHelper2 helper to help me sort the columns of these tables, however I''m experiencing a problem whereby if I sort TableA by description and then go ahead and view TableB I get an error message saying SQL Command Failed,

functions & paths
Hi, I have a couple of quick questions regarding R. 1) I have a ".First" function that automatically loads the quadprog package into the workspace. The .First function resides in R and is only saved if I save the workspace. The exact function is as follows: .First<-function() { library(quadprog) } Is there any way that this function can be saved outside of R? That is, is there

[LLVMdev] Program compiled with Clang -pg and -O crashes with SEGFAULT
Hi, I am trying to compile a simple program with Clang 3.3 on Linux and used -pg and -O2 option. The program would crash with segfault. Interestingly if I compile it with -pg option only it works. Do you have any idea why it crashes? And any workaround? $ cat myprog.c int main() { return 0; } $ clang -v -pg -O2 myprog.c clang version 3.3 (tags/RELEASE_33/final) Target:

Thanks

[LLVMdev] Behaviour of outs()?
I was just fixing a bug that was caused by `stdout` being closed before the runtime has done `fflush(stdout)` [or however this is implemented in the runtime]. The cause of this seems to be that `outs()` returns a static object created from `raw_fd_stream(STDOUT_FILENO, true)` - the `true` being the `shouldClose` parameter. Surely LLVM is not supposed to close `stdout` as part of its operations?

Stumped with winetricks and source code
I'm using Leopard and I'm new to wine, MacPorts, the use of the terminal, and coding in general. Because of this, some of the language in the FAQ seems foreign to me and hasn't been very helpful, or its geared toward Unix users and not Mac OS X users. ISSUE#1: I managed to install wine through MacPorts and use it to run a game. I've used Crossover to install and run the same game

variables in object names
Is there any way to put an argument into an object name. For example, say I have 5 objects, model1, model2, model3, model4 and model5. I would like to make a vector of the r.squares from each model by code such as this: rsq <- summary(model1)$r.squared for(i in 2:5){ rsq <- c(rsq, summary(model%i%)$r.squared) } So I assign the first value to rsq then cycle through models 2 through
