LLVM GSOC Projects Criteria Consultation (before 2/28)
Hello all,
GSOC is around the corner, and the LLVM projects plans to participate again this year. For those who don’t know about GSOC, students are proposing a project that they will work on for 3 months. Amongst other, one goal for LLVM is to mentor students to become good developers and also contributors to the LLVM project (or user/advocate of LLVM for building other cool projects).

Seed in 'parallel' vignette
Hi,
This is most likely only a minor technicality, but I saw the
following: On page 6 of the 'parallel' vignette
(http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/parallel/doc/parallel.pdf),
the random-number generator "L'Ecuyer-CMRG" is said to have seed
"(x_n, x_{n-1}, x_{n-2}, y_n, y_{n-1}, y_{n-2})". However, in L'Ecuyer
et al. (2002), the seed is given with

on this.

dom0 eth0:0, eth0:1, eth0:2 network setup alias ips
I''ve got 3 different sets of public ips, each with it''s own static ips,
and default gateways, and only one physical ethernet port.
I''d like to be able to setup domUs that use the various ips, and route
through the gateway for that particular IP.
My problem is that when I setup these ip addresses as alias on eth:0,
only one set of ips/netmask/gateway will work.

how do you interpolate a gaussian grid to a standard 2.5 degree grid?
Dear R-help community,
I have looked on the R search site and archives but cannot find mention of a way
of interpolating a gaussian distribution of data to a standard 2.5 degree grid.
I have two global dataset and I need to correlate - unfortunately one is a 2.5
degree grid dim[longitude=144,latitude=72] and one is gaussian
dim[longitude=192,latitude=94].
I would rally appreciate hearing

Welcome Hiroyuki Katsura as Google Summer of Code 2019 student
Dear libguestfs developers and users,
it is my pleasure to welcome Hiroyuki Katsura as Google Summer of Code
2019 student for libguestfs!
He will work on adding Rust bindings, to allow using libguestfs in Rust
applications. You can read the project submission here:

Setting up XEN domU causes RAID5 to fail?
This may be a coincidence or not, but I''m building a new XEN system for
myself for work purposes.
I support several different versions of a software that cannot be installed
at the same time, so I decided I wanted to setup a XEN domU for each.
I had 5 spare 500GB drives so I put them in my system and partitioned them
so I have a RAID1 boot, a RAID5 root and a RAID5 images.

stats::kernel
Hi,
There is a small bug in the kernel() function. Everything is fine when
we use the format:
kernel("name",m,r)
but if we want the first argument to be a vector, which is useful is we
are interested in using a method not implemented in kernel(), the
default value of m is wrong. For example, if we do:
s <- rep(1/11,6)
k <- kernel(s)
we get the error message

User-defined functions in rpart
This question concerns rpart's facility for user-defined functions that
accomplish splitting.
I was interested in modifying the code so that in each terminal node,
a linear regression is fit to the data.
It seems that from the allowable inputs in the user-defined functions,
that this may not be possible, since they have the form:
function(y, wt, parms) (in the case of the

rosavent problem
I have a frequency table that I am trying to plot on a rose diagram using
rosavent. I've set the table up by using this line:
Wind_freq_speed <- t(table(cut(Wind_Dir_vec, 0:36), cut(Wind_Speed_vec,
seq(0, to=60, by=10))))
It produces the following table layout, which is consistent with the
rosavent example (windfreq.dat).

We have already setup LADP server for entire institute, but we dont have

I searched alot but couldn't find anything for this.

plspm package error in data frame
Hello,
I am new to R and hope I will not seem ignorant in this post. I am
currently using the plspm package by Gaston Sanchez accompanied by his
text book.
I have attempted to create a square matrix, which has seemed
successful. I used the following code:

> "Normative Beliefs" = c(1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0)

Multiple statements in tryCatch
Hi,
tryCatch seems to be evaluating the all expressions wrapped in it before passing control to the error handling function. For example, the code below will try to evaluate "results" even though the call to odbcConnect fails. I was hoping that the mechanism would work in the same way as a C++ try catch structure and pass control to the catch... as soon as an exception is generated.
