Dual video card, 1 monitor each (ref dual head) CentoS4.6 xorg does only 1 head
I need to start running a dual head on one of my machines. Eventual target is CentOS 5.x. Decided to test first on my 4.6 setup (eventually it will achieve 5.x). Both machines are fully up to date. The test machine is 4.6, 2 radeon video cards. Searched the web, CentOS site, even bugzilla. This bugzilla entry from a 4.2 system), http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1875 had only a WFM response.

Migrating from RHEL to Centos
Hi, I m currently running my production servers on RHEL 4.6 & would like to migrate to Centos4.6 as it has more benefits & advantages. I looked at the Centos release notes available at http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.6/os/i386/RELEASE-NOTES-en.html and understood that the basic difference between RHEL & Centos are look/feel related & binaries, functionalities are almost same. But

Unable to mount a USB DVD drive
I can't seem to get an external DVD drive to show up on an CentOS 7 server. Wondering if it's just missing a driver or if I'm missing something fundamental. It's an external USB device that works fine on my Fedora 21 Laptop, but I never get a /dev/ entry (EG: /dev/sr0) on the server. What can I do to make this thing work? Python 2.4 on CentOS4?
Hi, Has anyone managed to find a Python 2.4 rpm binary that can be installed on CentOS4? I'm running CentOS4.6 and an application that I want to use required python 2.4 or greater. All the CentOS/RHEL4 python rpms that I find are all for python 2.3. I can't seem to find anything that works with CentOS4 libs. Thanks! Eric

Need to restart ypserv to update the nis maps
Hi I use NIS om my network (CentOS4.6). When an update on a map occurs (home directory changed in /etc/passwd for instance), I run make -C /var/yp/ and check the result on a client. On the client I use "ypcat passwd" and find indeed that the update has propagated (the clients run ypbind service). On the client I have configured /etc/nsswitch.conf with : passwd: files nis shadow:

SCSI controller setup
I have an IDE based PC running Linux/CentOS4 to which I wish to attach a scsi dlt. The host controller is an Adaptec AHA3940 something that lspci reports as: SCSI storage controller: Initio Corporation 360P (rev 02). I would like to have the system load the driver for this adapter at boot but I have two problems: 1. I am not sure which driver to use; and 2. I do not know how to force

Strange performance issues under CentOS 5.1
I am still running CentOS 4.6 on our production systems, but I am starting to plan the upgrade to CentOS 5.1. I have one test system running 5.1 that is the exact same hardware configuration as my 4.6 test system. One of our builds runs about 6 times slower on the 5.1 system, even though is uses less overall CPU time. I first suspected something wrong with the disk, but the results
