Skype on CentOS 5 - my microphone settings are incorrect
Note: The Wiki for Skype needs a tiny update. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype It's not a Beta now. Last night, I downloaded and installed skype-2.0.0.63-centos.i586.rpm The Skype web site calls this a "Gold" release. I'm having the same problem I had when I tried to use the Skype Beta. It's not picking up audio from the microphone. The hardware works fine, when I'm

Skype vs. CentOS: no outgoing sound
Hi, I've spent the best part of a sunny afternoon trying to get Skype to work on my CentOS 5 desktop. My soundcard seems configured OK. I can play sounds and hear them OK in my headset: $ aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/*.wav I can record speech from my microphone OK: $ arecord > ~/test.wav ... although I have to say that sound quality seems rather poor. It's quite fuzzy. Other

Mic Plugged into sound card not working
Hey guys, I have a mic plugged into my sound card. It worked late last night but not today. When I try to select the mic using System/Preferences/Sound I'm provided with several options to choose from. On the Hardware tab I choose the Internal Audio device and set it to Analog Stereo Duplex. On the Input tab I choose Internal Audio Analog Stereo there are two Analog Microphone Inputs,

Simple audio recording app?
Hi, I'd like to get my microphone to work (mainly to use it with Skype). I've just been looking for a simple audio recording app, as I vaguely remember having seen such a thing before, only I can't seem to find it anymore. I'm using the default GNOME desktop with the latest CentOS 5. Any suggestions? Niki

Skype Public Key - How to install PGP Public Key in CentOS5, from alternate site that I have in web browser?
Hello: A simple question: On this Wiki page: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype it says that the normal method for the Public Key isn't working. I copied the URL for the alternate key location http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/infosys/phone/skype/rpm-public-key.asc into the browser and I get a PGP Public Key. Question: What rpm command do I use, to Import the Public Key that's in the browser

Sound Problems
I have a Creative Audigy SE configured whit the module CA106 The problem is to make the mixer work. It seems that Wine looks for PCM Playback Volume that is common to many cards, but not mine. My card channels for Playback are IEC958, IEC958 C, IEC958 F, IEC958 R, Analog C, Analog F, Analog R and Analog S. What am I missing? Thanks.

Microphone Problems
I'm having some problems configuring my microphone to work in Wine. It is a standard analog (not usb) microphone. I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, Wine 1.1.38, and using the ALSA drivers in winecfg. Although Wine detects my microphone, depending on how I set-up the mixers in ALSAmixer, Windows programs in Wine only pick up static or nothing at all. For example, Rosetta Stone 3.4.5, although able
