Xen GPL PV Drivers, Windows 2003 unplanned shutdown
Hi,
I''ve recently started using the GPL PV Drivers (0.9.10) for a pair of
test machines, one XP and one 2003. XP works beautifully: Thank you for
the development efforts. 2003 works almost as well, with one exception.
When I either xm reboot or xm shutdown and subsequently restart the
virtual machine, at first login I get this dialogue:
The system has restarted after an unplanned

to AD or not to AD
Greetings folks,
I'm currently using the latest samba 3.x versions but my servers
are in an NT4 domain which has a trust relationship with an AD
in mixed mode. This has worked flawlessly for the past few years
(I started with samba 2.x series).
I am heavily considering getting rid of the domain and just moving
my servers into the AD itself. Are there any pitfalls I should be
wary of in

migrating user profiles to new domain
Ok, we finally have our Linux PDC up and running. I'm trying to find a
good guide to copying windows XP user profiles & registry settings to
the newly created domain user profile. Also any utilities that could
accomplish this. We are using local profiles. What we tried was using
the "copy to" button to copy the user profile to the new domain profile.
This seems to work for

SMB/CIFS vs DFS
Hello,
I am running Mandrake 8.0
I am installing & upgrading to Samba 3.0.28
I just finished reading IBM's Redbook "Open Your
Windows with Samba on Linux" (redp3780). I'd like to
know, what is the best configuration between SMB/CIFS
& DFS, in a Linux (servers) & Windows
(clients/workstations) network. Even though I read the
Redbook, it still not clear as to which

share persistence problem
After awhile, my connections from my PC to my samba server end up with a
red "X" in them (share disappeared) if I leave my explorer window open.
If I click on these, they "wake up" and continue to function (and
the red X's go away). If I close my explorer window (while the red X's
are there) and reopen it , they are gone. An attempt to reestablish
these

static wins entries -- entries change after restart of corresponding Samba server
I am trying to use static wins entries, as stated in the Official Samba
Howto Collection.
One Samba server (VServer) is with wins service enabled. Another
(Server1) is not, but it has the wins server in its smb.conf.
When I set wins.dat at VServer:
"SERVER1#00" 0 192.168.6.231 192.168.1.231 66R
"SERVER1#03" 0 192.168.6.231 192.168.1.231 66R

No connection in DomUs with network-route
Hi,
I would like to know if somebody can point me out how to configure
several DomUs in a private LAN (for example 192.168.100.0/24) and one
DomU with two interfaces (one - 192.168.100.0/24 and two - internet).
So far I have enabled in xend-config.sxp:
(network-script network-route)
(vif-script vif-route)
My config files have:
/mnt/VM/1.cfg:vif = [''ip=192.168.1.3'']

AW: debian 10, vm cant connect to the host bridge
I should have what i want to achive.
The server is intended as a host for VMs. Our network has multiple VLANs, and the VMs will be connected to different VLANS. The interface eno1 is for host traffic and eno2 is connected to the trunk port of the switch, making the different VLANS availabel to the VMs via the br0. I want to use a VLAN-aware br0, so that I specify in my VM config (on the host

LVM, usb drives, Active Directory
I have a client with a handful of USB drives connected to a CentOS
box. I am charged with binding the USB drives together into a single
LVM for a cheap storage data pool (10 x 1 TB usb drives = 10 TB cheap
storage in a single mount point).
The next fun piece is how to incorporate that storage space into an
existing Active Directory structure to apply AD acls for limited
access.
I'd rather

Out of disk space at 2 GB?
On an ext3 filesystem, what would cause the system to claim it is out of
disk space for a program writing information to disk, when df -h shows
ample GB available and the file is being written to local disk rather than
an nfs-mounted filesystem?
I believe the hard drive is good.
Ideas welcome.
Thanks.

Help with streaming audio...
I recently installed Icecast2 on my XP Home Laptop. My goal is to get the
audio from my vhf/uhf scanner, whose audio out is connected to the laptop's mic
port, out as a stream so I can listen to it when away from home (like from
work).
I can hear the scanner fine through the laptop's speakers, but although I've
read the documentation for the Icecast2 server configuration, I'm

Cluster server options?
I have a 10 blade cluster of just hardware - I can install what I
want, how I want. ? What options are there if I wanted to build the 10
blades as one large beast, but _NOT_ necessarily for someone doing
grid-type work? ? ?Some users don't now how to program that way, but
they'd like to have their program run on something that acts like a
single processor, but a massive single processor

Help with GTK and putty
I'm trying to install the latest version of putty GUI ssh client on my C5
box, but get the error:
./configure: line 2353: syntax error near unexpected token '1.2.0,'
./configure: "AM_PATH_GTK(1.2.0, all_targets="all-cli all-gtk",
all_targets="all-cli)'
What am I missing? I thought I had GTK fully installed. Maybe I don't?
I tried a yum install

Centos 5 yum update needs gpg key import
I just performed a fresh install of 64-bit Centos 5 on a system, booted
fine, then performed a yum update, or at least tried to. Files
downloaded, and were about to install, when it complained that the gpg
keys could not be found.
I ran into this about a month ago and found a web page showing the path
locally to where the keys live, and providing rpm --import /to/the/path.
But of course now

NTP server
I have a Centos 5 64-bit server that has ntp service enabled. Windows XP
with SP2 cannot properly sync to it for time, but can communicate with it
via samba, ssh, and anything else. I also disabled the Windows
Firewall. The C5 system does not have any firewall enabled.
Other C5 workstations can successfully sync to it via ntpdate.
What else could cause the XP machine to not be able to
