centos 5 with mplayer and xv driver
Hi all I am trying to get mplayer working on centos 5. On centos 4.X I just did a ./configure and make and make install for mplayer.... Can use prepaged mplayer for other reasons. anyway, when I play a video I cannot get it to use the xv driver (acceleated video). What package might I be missing or not installed to get the xv driver ??? I am using the binary nvidia drivers (latest version).

XVideo vs OpenGL
Hi, I have a Pentium III PC with NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT on an AGP 8x and am running NVIDIA driver 9755 on CentOS 5.0 x86. What is the most efficient playback method for the various players, XVideo or OpenGL? RealPlayer has a "Use XVideo" tick box under the "Hardware" tab preselected, while MPlayer uses xv - X11/Xv, gl - X11(OpenGL) and other Video drivers. What is the most

slow xvideo with xgl and nvidia fx5200
hi, I am using xgl on opensuse-10.2 with the latest driver from nvidia. I generally works fine. The only issues is fullscreen xvideo. The way the xvideo extension is implemented causes high cpu load in the opengl driver. CPU: AMD64 processors, speed 1800.21 MHz (estimated) Counted CPU_CLK_UNHALTED events (Cycles outside of halt state) with a unit mask of 0x00 (No unit mask) count 100000

compiz composited video and alpha only GLX pixmaps
I've added a simple plugin to compiz that provides a way to render video efficiently on a composited desktop. A video playback client basically copies video data to a pixmap and sets an X property on a client window that describes the image format of the data and where it should be rendered. The compiz video plugin will scale and perform necessary colorspace conversions when compositing the

Making the video plugin + patched MPlayer work with other backends
Hi, I'm wondering how I can make my patched up mplayer work with other MPlayer frontends, such as mplayer-plugin, GMPlayer, SMPlayer and KMPlayer. When I play a video using mplayer normally with: mplayer video.ext, It detects the compiz video output and works fine, however when it is called from other players (AFAIK, it just creates a window then asks mplayer to display in it) with mplayer

GeForce GTS 250M: Mplayer freezes machine when playing openGL
I am happy to report that the patches to support my video card under Nouveau have appeared in the mainstream kernel (currently running 2.6.34-rc5). But I have noticed that, if I run mplayer with -vo gl (output to an OpenGL window), the machine tends to crash after a variable time - from a few seconds to a few minutes. I tried with full-screen or partial, and even with the actual playback screen
