Hi, I''m halfway developing a tiny plugin that allows people to scrub flash video files. I''ve got my plugin setup to monitor a directory /movies. Whenever a .flv file is requested within that directory, some stuff should happen, if not, the request should be processed as usual. I don''t know how to do the latter.. require ''mongrel'' require

Cookie based session management problems
Edge has a change in default behaviour where sessions are stored as cookies instead of in the file system. This was a pleasant surprise when I synced up, fired up my app, and nothing worked. Ah, life on the edge. I''m sure I''m just missing something, but I can''t get sessions to survive the first redirect. I added the following code to environment.rb, based on

I installed the exception notifier via: /script/plugin install -x exception_notification It resides in the vendor/exception_notification directory (as advertised). I''ve configured environment.rb with the following: ExceptionNotifier.exception_recipients = %w(blakemiller-uBzjpPW2m0pBDgjK7y7TUQ@public.gmane.org) ExceptionNotifier.sender_address = %("Application Error"

Stop browser from "form filling" fields.
Hi all, I have a user login form which the browser keeps populating because of its form fill feature. So when anyone goes to log in it shows the previous login''s username and password. How can I stop the browser from populating a text field? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Diego --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to

Performance tweak when local files are not served by mongrel
Hello Zed ! I''ve experimented a simple but limited performance tweak in the mongrel rails loader. With the following apache 2.2 mod proxy loadbalancer setup : # Redirect all non-static requests to cluster RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ balancer://mongrel_cluster%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] We can assume that mongrel is called only when the

Mongrel::HttpHandlerPlugin
Hi, I''m trying to write a file upload monitor for mongrel that uses juggernaut to alert the browser of a change. I''m writing a plugin that uses Mongrel::HttpHandlerPlugin but it looks like the only method that gets called is process and that is only when the upload has finished. I''m setting the following: @request_notify = true But I am still only getting process to

Patch idea for rspec_on_rails
I recently wrote a matcher for testing AR associations which allows you to specify things like: Foo.should have_many(:bars).through(:bazes) I''m pretty darned proud of it and a couple of people have suggested that I should submit it to the rspec_on_rails project. Before I go to the trouble of writing out rdoc and fully spec''ing it, I just wanted to make sure this was

Making 'expire_fragment' available to a model?
I noticed a lot of repetition across different Sweeper models in my app expiring the same fragments and so have been trying to move all the expire_fragment calls into another model which the sweepers can then use but it''s not working as I''d hoped.. I''ve created a CacheDestroyer model and want to be able to call something to the effect of:

negate the regexp in validates_format_of
Railsters: ActiveRecord''s validation system puts other database systems to shame. However, the newbies might not know how to write a regexp that excludes a match, instead of tests for it. Understand - I''m just asking this question to help them. I have been using Regexps since ''grep'' on Xenix! But the newbies here might not know how to do this:

dynamic tablenames
Hi List! May I tap into your combined common sense ? I have a legacy logging app that needs to be modernized. At the moment, Data is going to be stored in 5 tables, one table is going to contain more than 200 million and 2 others about 60 million rows. Mysql will be used, unless someone sees a major advantage in using something else (at the moment data is stored in a raw positioned file format,

How to restart server programmatically?
I need to be able to restart my server based on a specific database change. I''ve been trying a call to system("script/process/reaper -a graceful -d dispatch.fcgi") but that raises a transaction error which rolls back the save. I wasn''t aware that after_save would rollback. That''s potentially useful but pretty much not right now. Here''s my code: def

Can Win32 service more than one rails request at a time?
Hi, I am trying to run Mongrel on win32 to serve an internal rails application. We are accessing legacy data, and some transactions can take 5 to 10 seconds. This is holding up every other request. The -n does not seem to be supported on Win32. Am I missing something, or should I look elsewhere to serve my Rails app on win32? Thanks, Walt -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
