SQLite3 on 3 node cluster FS?
Raghavendra,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I fixed our data corruption problem by disabling the volume
performance.write-behind flag as you suggested, and simultaneously
disabling caching in my client side mount command.
In very modest testing, the flock() case appears to me to work well -
before it would corrupt the db within a few transactions.
Testing using built in sqlite3 locks is

SQLite3 on 3 node cluster FS?
Raghavendra,
I've commited my tests case to https://github.com/powool/gluster.git -
it's grungy, and a work in progress, but I am happy to take change
suggestions, especially if it will save folks significant time.
For the rest, I'll reply inline below...

1.1.4 and trouble over NFS
Hello, I have some trouble with the current setup (it's a testing
environment):
2 server with Dovecot 1.1.4 from source (OS Debian testing 2.6.26)
(name: "exim" and "exim2")
1 NFS server (OS Debian testing 2.6.26)
I use NFS v.4, indexes shared over NFS. The relavant part of Dovecot
configuration:
dotlock_use_excl = yes
mail_nfs_storage = yes
mail_nfs_index = yes

NFS cache flush tester
http://dovecot.org/tools/nfstest.c
I wrote a test utility that tests different ways to flush NFS attribute
cache and data cache. Please test in your NFS setup and show me the
results, so I can make Dovecot v1.1 works well with NFS.
Run the test several times (3 should be enough) to make sure the output
stays the same, because the attribute cache flushes might incorrectly
say "OK". And

rename(2), atomicity, crashes and fsync()
Hi all,
Recently there''s been discussion [1] in the Linux community about how
filesystems should deal with rename(2), particularly in the case of a crash.
ext4 was found to truncate files after a crash, that had been written with
open("foo.tmp"), write(), close() and then rename("foo.tmp", "foo"). This is
because ext4 uses delayed allocation and may not

sqlite3-ruby Not Needed for Rails?
I''ve always thought the sqlite3-ruby gem is needed for Rails apps to
use SQLite3 databases, until the other day.
I set up a VM running Ubuntu 9.0.4, 32-bit server edition with Rails
2.2.2 to host an app I had written (by the way, the VM was
surprisingly easier to setup than the Mac it replaced).
I had neglected to install the sqlite3-ruby gem on the VM, which I had

Unable to install sqlite3
I am new to Ruby. Try out a web application, but when I tried to access
the page, it has the following error (see ERROR 1 below).
So I thought I may have not installed "sqlite3" and tried downloading
"sqlite_3-6-4.zip" and "sqlitedll_3-6-4.zip", unzipped it and place it
in ruby''s bin directory. Then I run the command:
gem install sqlite3-ruby
But found
