Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
I must ask again, just to be sure. Is what you are proposing definitely supported in v3.8? Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
gluster volume add-brick volname replica 3 arbiter 1 brickhost:brickpath/to/new/arbitervol Yes. The replica 3 looks odd. Somewhere in 3.12 (?) or not until v4 a change in command will happen so it won't count the arbiter as a replica. Re-adding an existing brick to a volume
Let me see if I understand this. Remove attrs from the brick and delete the .glusterfs folder. Data stays in place. Add the brick to the volume. Since most of the data is the same as on the actual volume it does not need to be synced, and the heal operation finishes much faster. Do I have this right? Re-adding an existing brick to a volume
Hi! I am running a replica 3 volume. On server2 I wanted to move the brick to a new disk. I removed the brick from the volume: gluster volume remove-brick VOLUME rep 2 server2:/gluster/VOLUME/brick0/brick force I unmounted the old brick and mounted the new disk to the same location. I added the empty new brick to the volume: gluster volume add-brick VOLUME rep 3

Re-adding an existing brick to a volume
.gluster and attr already in that folder so it would not connect it as a brick I don't think there is option to "reconnect brick back" what I did many times - delete .gluster and reset attr on the folder, connect the brick and then update those attr. with stat commands example here http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2018-January/033352.html Vlad On Sun, Feb 25, 2018

Routing of outgoing packets
Hi! I am trying to use hping to chek the latency of our network. Somehow things are not going to plan and I thought someone might be able to shed some light on the subject. Here is the setup: (the IP addresses gvien here are fake, but they do represent the correct state of the networking setup) vlan interface IP mask V2 eth0 192.168.20.20 32

SSSD and usermod
Hi! How to get usermod working with SSSD/389DS ? We have SSSD set up on our server and it uses 389DS. SSSD was enabled with the following command: authconfig --enablesssd --enablesssdauth --ldapbasedn=dc=example,dc=com --enableshadow --enablemkhomedir --enablelocauthorize --update Running for example "usermod -L username" returns: usermod: user 'username' does not exist in

Bash package for CentOS5
Hi! I have noticed, that our mirror has this package bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm, but a lot of other mirror still have bash-3.2-33.el5_10.4.x86_64.rpm. Since bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm was issued on 26-Sep-2014 04:28, could this be the product of slower mirror update cycles? Regards, Mitja -- -- Mitja Miheli? reset-brick command questions
Hi Jorick, 1 - Why would I even need to specify the " HOSTNAME:BRICKPATH " twice? I just want to replace the disk and get it back into the volume. Reset brick command can be used in different scenarios. One more case could be where you just want to change the host name to IP address of that node of bricks. In this case also you will follow the same steps but just have to provide IP

Not possible to stop geo-rep after adding arbiter to replica 2
Hello To my two node replica volume I have added an arbiter node for safety purpose. On that volume I also have geo replication running and would like to stop it is status "Faulty" and keeps trying over and over to sync without success. I am using GlusterFS 3.8.11. So in order to stop geo-rep I use: gluster volume geo-replication myvolume gfs1geo.domain.tld::myvolume-geo stop but it

stream to icecast and shoutcast
Hello, I would need an advice on how to change the setup of my streaming server. The box is an AMD Sempron 2800+ 512MB of RAM, nvidia nforce2 chipset, running on an OpenBSD 3.7. Changing the OS is the last thing I am prepared to do. The system is runing icecast 2.2.0 and Darkice 0.15beta (live streaming). Because POSIX scheduling is not supported in OpenBSD (darkice message on startup) I am

Quotas not working after adding arbiter brick to replica 2
Hello, As you might have read in my previous post on the mailing list I have added an arbiter node to my GlusterFS 3.8.11 replica 2 volume. After some healing issues and help of Ravi that could get fixed but now I just noticed that my quotas are all gone. When I run the following command: glusterfs volume quota myvolume list There is no output... In the /var/log/glusterfs/quotad.log I can see the

Replica 3 with arbiter - heal error?
Hello, I have a Gluster 3.8.13 with replica 3 arbiter volume mounted and run there a following script: while true; do echo "$(date)" >> a.txt; sleep 2; done After few seconds I add a rule to the firewall on the client, that blocks access to node specified during mount e.g. if volume is mounted with: mount -t glusterfs -o backupvolfile-server=10.0.0.2 10.0.0.1:/vol /mnt/vol I
