Backup and Restore strategy in Gluster FS 3.8.4
Not so fast, 3.8.4 is the latest if you are using official RHEL rpms from Red Hat Gluster Storage, so support for that should go through your Red Hat subscription. If you are using the community packages, then yes, you want to update to a more current version. Seems like the latest is: 3.8.4-44.el7 Diego On Wed, Sep 20, 2017 at 1:45 PM, Ben Werthmann <ben at apcera.com> wrote: >

Using glusterfind to backup to rsync.net?
Hi Milind, I am thinking of doing backups from my Gluster volume at home. Would glusterfind make that straight forward to do? My plan would be to have a cron-job that runs every night and copies documents and pictures to rsync.net. For me it is not a lot of data, and I think a plain recursive scanning rsync might work sufficiently, but hooking it up with glusterfind would be more optimized. Can

Backup and Restore strategy in Gluster FS 3.8.4
Hi, What is the preferred way of taking glusterfs backup? I am using Glusterfs 3.8.4. We've configured gluster on thick provisioned LV in which 50% of the VG is kept free for the LVM snapshot. is it any different then taking snapshot on a thin provisioned LV? -- Thanks, Sunil Aggarwal 844-734-5346 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Enabling Halo sets volume RO
Hi all, I'm taking a stab at deploying a storage cluster to explore the Halo AFR feature and running into some trouble. In GCE, I have 4 instances, each with one 10gb brick. 2 instances are in the US and the other 2 are in Asia (with the hope that it will drive up latency sufficiently). The bricks make up a Replica-4 volume. Before I enable halo, I can mount to volume and r/w files. The

Trying to run (tweak) a few games on Wine
Hello, I'm a relatively new user to Linux, it's only been two weeks since I'm using it. I'm trying to run two games right now : Halo and Live for Speed. Here are the issues for each. Halo : Performance in Halo is excellent, it's actually better in Linux than it was in Windows XP. Frame rate is good, looks like solid 60 FPS all the time. The only problem is the mouse movement

gluster volume + lvm : recommendation or neccessity ?
Hi everyone, I've read on the gluster & redhat documentation, that it seems recommended to use XFS over LVM before creating & using gluster volumes. Sources : https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3/html/Administration_Guide/Formatting_and_Mounting_Bricks.html http://gluster.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Setting%20Up%20Volumes/ My point is :

Enabling Halo sets volume RO
I think the problem here is by default the quorum is playing around here, to get rid of this you can change quorum type as fixed and the value as 2 , or you can disable the quorum. active-active georeplication?
Halo replication [1] could be of interest here. This functionality is available since 3.11 and the current plan is to have it fully supported in a 4.x release. Note that Halo replication is built on existing synchronous replication in Gluster and differs from the current geo-replication implementation. Kotresh's response is spot on for the current geo-replication implementation. Regards,

parallel-readdir is not recognized in GlusterFS 3.12.4
Hello, I saw that parallel-readdir was an experimental feature in GlusterFS version 3.10.0, became stable in version 3.11.0, and is now recommended for small file workloads in the Red Hat Gluster Storage Server documentation[2]. I've successfully enabled this on one of my volumes but I notice the following in the client mount log: [2018-01-23 10:24:24.048055] W [MSGID: 101174]

fullscreen uses panning, and xrandr has cursor moving
I'm having a problem with games running in wine fullscreen with nvidia proprietary driver 185.18 under Fedora 11 64-bit. My desktop resolution is 1920x1200, and when I run a game with 1280x960 fullscreen setup (like Halo for example), it changes resolution to 1280x960 and runs fullscreen as expected, but when I move the mouse toward the edge rapidly, it pans the game screen away as if

"Rotating" .glusterfs/changelogs
Hello all, I'm trying to find a way to rotate the metadata changelogs. I've so far learned (by ndevos in #gluster) that changelog is needed for certain services, among those, georeplication, but not entirely sure about the extent. Is there a way to rotate these logs so that it takes up less space? This is not an entirely critical issue, but it seems kinda silly when we have a 3 GB volume
