CentOS 5 and Broadcom wireless
I've got CentOS 5 installed on my hp pavilion ze 5300 laptop and the network configuration UI says my wireless NIC has been correctly identified and assigned what appears to be the right Broadcom device driver on eth1. However, the inteface doesn't come up. Google doesn't find anything recent about using Linux with Broadcom except for someone's passing remark that Ubuntu 7 beta

Obtaining a newer Broadcomm (bcm43xx) driver for CentOS 5
I'm using CentOS 5 (w/all latest updates as of 2008-01-06) on an HP laptop -- in fact, the exact laptop described here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-ze5300_Series Ever since I switched from SHARED to OPEN authentication (and hence from using ndiswrapper to the bcm43xx module, as explained on that wiki page), I've been having packet loss and/or collision on the

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*" partitions
Hi, Just got Fedora FC1 vanilla 2.4.25kernel+libata8patch booting problems, FC1 complains that it can not automatically find&found partitions specified with "LABEL=" in /etc/fstab, and then falls me into repair mode. In the repair mode I can mount it manually without any problems. More interesting are: 1) I have several partitions specified with "LABEL=*" in

Wiki contribution: CentOS 5 on HP Pavilion laptop
Dag Wie?rs recently requested contributors for the http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/ section. A few months back I installed CentOS 5 on my HP Pavilion ze5300 (actually an xt5377qv). I'd like to create a page for this.

idea: "hybrid" iso images?
In order to create a bootable CentOS installation USB thumb drive, there are several steps one must follow.? The process often involves using a Windows box, which can be kinda annoying. The Linux Mint distro has what they call a "Hybrid" iso image. ?(see: ? http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/744 ) This image can be written to a thumb drive and used for installation simply by

Detecting second network interface
Me again. The ASUS P5N32-SLI motherboard in my new machine has dual NICs but CentOS has only detected one of them. I've tried rebooting with the network plugged in only to the second one, but kudzu still doesn't find it. Any suggestions?

OT : OpenSER Summit & Pavilion - 17th to 19th of March, 2008 , San Jose, US
I'm taking the liberty to announce this event on the Asterisk mailing list, as Asterisk and OpenSER form a valuable combination in SIP architectures. The second edition of OpenSER Summit will take place in San Jose, USA ,on the 17th of March, 2008, during VonX Spring 2008 pre-conference events. This is the first US edition of the OpenSER Summit - to learn more about the agenda and layout of

Re: ATARAID on 2.4.19?
> Did you ever find out what was wrong? Nope, and personally I think there's a bug in 2.4.19. Since I sent the email below I did a make oldconfig and went thru the new options very carefully - no luck. I'm still running on 2.4.18, and I can compile a kernel, install, and it works fine. PPC little endian?
Hi, I am wondering why we dont support PPC32 LE? Here is the output of llvm-mc --version, in which only PPC32, PPC64 & PPC64LE are supported. $ llvm-mc --version LLVM (http://llvm.org/): LLVM version 3.6.2 Optimized build with assertions. Booting from an external USB drive?
Is it possible? Booting the installer from the CD works, finds the USB drive, and allows me to put the root filesystem on it. I put the /boot partition on the internal hard drive and installed GRUB in the boot record of that partition. GRUB shows the menu and begins booting, but eventually fails with the error that /dev/sda5 (the external partition) does not exist. I was hoping (perhaps in

Kudzu and Zaptel Cards
Redhat has a 'Hardware Discovery Utility' called Kudzu. When I change cards, kudzu pops up and ask to remove/config the card. Most of the time kudzu has trouble recognizing the Digium Zaptel cards and calls them something wrong, like calling the TDM card a network card. I'm having a devil of a time getting 3 TE410P cards to come up with all green lights. For example one or two cards

CentOS 5 ssloooowww when network unavailable
This is undoubtedly an upstream issue, but ... I've been messing about with that hp pavilion trying to get wireless working. If I boot with the eth0 NIC plugged in, everything is blazingly fast -- GDM comes up in a few seconds, the Gnome startup splash screen barely has time to appear before it's gone again, shells pop up the instant I click Open Terminal. If I unplug the network and

Open Source Pavilion at AstriCon: Your project wanted!
Each year at AstriCon, we have an Open Source Pavilion which showcases projects which are adjuncts to Asterisk, or which are directly relevant to improving the utility and features of Asterisk. It gives smaller projects the chance to have some space to display what they're doing, and to give demonstrations to the AstriCon attendees who are interested in some of the things happening

CentOS 4.4 LILO Raid (also e2fsprogs in general)
i noticed that the 4.4 upgrade broke LILO on Raid... it gave errors on partitions not on the primary disk along the lines of "/dev/dis: no such device"... even explicitly installing the boot sector on each device in the array, while it allowed the system to boot, gave errors at boot time and did not display the CentOS boot screen anymore... i solved the problem by creating a

CentOS on HP dm1-4033
JohnPage would like to create and maintain a page on installing linux on the HP dm1-4033. Others may have succeeded in installing linux on other models of the dm1, this one has a different wireless card etc. I propose to maintain a french version too.
