Gluster Server upgrade from 3.5 to 3.8 in online upgrade mode
Thanks for your reply.
So the way I understand is that it can be upgraded but with a downtime,
which means that there are no clients writing to this gluster volume, as
the volume is stopped.
But post a upgrade we will still have the data on the gluster volume
that we had before the upgrade(but with downtime).

Change IP address of few nodes in GFS 3.8
Thanks Atin.
Peer probes were done using FQDN and I was able to make these changes.
The only thing I had to do on rest of the nodes was to flush nscd; after that everything was good and I did not have to restart gluster services on these rest of the nodes.

Gluster Server upgrade from 3.5 to 3.8 in online upgrade mode
Nope, not gonna work... I could never go even from 3.6. to 3.7 without
downtime cause of the settings change, see:
http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users.old/2015-September/023470.html
Even when changing options in the older 3.6.x I had installed, my new
3.7.x server would not connect, so had to pretty much stop gluster in
all servers, update to 3.7.x offline, then start gluster and

RMAN backups on Glusters
Sending again.
Can somebody please take a look and let me know is this is doable?
Folks,
We have glusters with version 3.8.13 and we are using that for RMAN backups.
We get errors/warnings,
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on C1 channel at 03/28/2018 16:55:43
ORA-19510: failed to set size of 184820 blocks for file

Gluster Server upgrade from 3.5 to 3.8 in online upgrade mode
I was looking to upgrade Gluster server from ver 3.5.X to 3.8.X.
I have already tried it in offline upgrade mode and that works, I am
interested in knowing if this upgrade of gluster server version can be
in online upgrade mode.
Many thanks in advance.

Change IP address of few nodes in GFS 3.8
Folks,
We have a 12 node replicated gluster with 2 X 6.
I need to change IP address in 6 nodes out of the 12 nodes, keeping the
host name same. The 6 nodes that I plan to change IP are part of the 3
sub-volumes.
Is this possible and if so is there any formal process to tell that
there is a change in IP address.
My requirement is to keep the volume up and not bring it down. I can

Change IP address of few nodes in GFS 3.8
If the gluster nodes are peer probed through FQDNs then you?re good. If
they?re done through IPs then for every node you?d need to replace the old
IP with new IP for all the files in /var/lib/glusterd along with renaming
the filenames with have the associated old IP and restart all gluster
services. I used to have a script for this which I shared earlier in users
ML, need to dig through my mailbox

GlusterFS as underlying Replicated Disk for App Server
Hi All,
We have a requirement for a common replicated filesystem between our two
datacentres, mostly for DR and patching purposes when running Weblogic
clusters.
For those that are not acquainted, Weblogic has a persistent store that it
uses for global transaction logs amongst other things. This store can be
hosted on shared disk (usually NFS), or in recent versions within an Oracle
DB.

Kernel NFS on GlusterFS
Gluster does the sync part better than corosync. It's not an
active/passive failover system. It more all active. Gluster handles the
recovery once all nodes are back online.
That requires the client tool chain to understand that a write goes to
all storage devices not just the active one.
3.10 is a long term support release. Upgrading to 3.12 or 4 is not a
significant issue once a replacement

Kernel NFS on GlusterFS
Hello,
I'm designing a 2-node, HA NAS that must support NFS. I had planned on
using GlusterFS native NFS until I saw that it is being deprecated. Then, I
was going to use GlusterFS + NFS-Ganesha until I saw that the Ganesha HA
support ended after 3.10 and its replacement is still a WIP. So, I landed
on GlusterFS + kernel NFS + corosync & pacemaker, which seems to work quite
well. Are

Slow Writes on GlusterFS Backed Xen DomU's
Hi Everyone,
Hope your day has been going well. I have a quick question for everyone.
I am currently using GlusterFS as a distributed SAN backend for the Xen
based cloud platform we are developing.
We deploy Xen virtuals on pairs of servers using GlusterFs V3 in
replicate mode on Debian Stable (Lenny) with Xen 3.2.1 as the
hypervisor. I am currently experiencing a weird issue where within the

I upgraded my glusterfs (2xreplia) to 3.8.14 from 3.6 yesterday

Permission for glusterfs logs.
Hi Team,
I did some modification in glusterfs code and now able to modify the
permission of maximum of files.
But still 2 file's permission in 0600

2. file which contains the mounting information for "mount -t glusterfs"
command
I will really appreciate, if some can point light on this area. Also is
there any side effect of changing these permissions apart from other

Permission for glusterfs logs.
Hi Team,
As you can see permission for the glusterfs logs in /var/log/glusterfs is
600.
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 140 Jan 1 00:00 ..
*-rw------- 1 root root 0 Jan 3 20:21 cmd_history.log*

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 100 Jan 3 20:21 .
