Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
What keeps happening to us is that we end up requiring older or patched versions of Qt, which makes it challenging to be synced to whatever version of Qt happens to be in Debian/Ubuntu. Essentially we often need to vendor Qt, and that isn't something that is compatible with being in the standard Debian or Ubuntu repos (but may be compatible with Snaps or other packaging/bundling standards).

Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Thanks so much for your explanatory details JJ and for all of your work. It is highly appreciated! I wonder if Qt 5.6 will be in the default repos for 16.04. That make a nice time for things to come together. Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Dear All, I try not to bump too much, but I just tried Ubuntu 18.04, and it is not in repo and I still do not see any PPA available. If it would help, I can spend the time to explain why I believe it helpful to install using a command rather than webbrowser, but I think this is already understood why helpful, but it seems there is just a technical tricky problem to solve to implementation. Thank

Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Yes, a PPA would definitely be great and we'll look into doing that soon. Dirk, you can avoid some of the scraping you are doing in those scripts via the URLs here (which are redirects to the latest stable/preview/daily versions): https://support.rstudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/203842428-Getting-the-newest-RStudio-builds On Thu, Aug 2, 2018 at 7:39 AM Dirk Eddelbuettel <edd at

Why is rstudio not in Ubuntu repo or PPA?
Hi, rstudio is very easy to install, but it would be great if it were just an apt-get away. Is there a reason it is not in Ubuntu main repos or in rrutter PPA? Kind regards, Xu

tinc Ubuntu ppa?
Is there a Ubuntu ppa for tinc? Ubuntu 16.04 LTS has tinc 1.0.26 packaged, which has "network hiccups" / connectivity issues. So I was wondering if Ubuntu ppa with tinc packages exists? Tomasz Chmielewski https://lxadm.com

Ubuntu PPA changes
I've created a new PPA in which to maintain the backported versions of the latest Debian packages to Ubuntu releases: https://launchpad.net/~xapian/+archive/ubuntu/backports The reason for this change is that the existing PPA is stuck using a GPG key created when the PPA was first created a decade ago. This is a 1024 bit RSA key using SHA1 as the hash, and that's not really secure by

Ubuntu 18.04 bionic: availability of R Ubuntu packages/ppa?
awesome, merci Dirk! and my apologies for not scrolling down better, I failed to see that the 18.04 update was linked to the R 3.5 issue . Further, please forgive my impatience, but I was very curious to see if the package tidyverse could be installed: I have the impression that it is short of being installed, missing just a few simple packages (with no apparent non-R dependencies). Indeed, a

Ubuntu cran2deb PPA
Dear Michael, I was looking up the status of the cran2deb effort and notice that you now have a PPA where new packages are landing and being built for Ubuntu. It looks like this is still a work in progress, but is already a fantastic resource for me and I hope it is something that you can continue to operate. I'm now installing many of these packages but some things I need are missing.

[LLVMdev] LLVM PPA with updated packages from svn + bazaar repos
Hey, I started a PPA (basically an Ubuntu package repository) for LLVM, I'm going to try to make packages with snapshots from llvm that are updated at least weekly, so it's easier for people to try the latest version from svn but not having to compile it and do everything themselves. Hopefully this will be useful for people here, I still have some stuff to do, and right now I've not

r-base-dev not installing in Ubuntu 16.04
I have recently re-installed R on my Ubuntu system to get R 3.5 and found this to have worked: # you may need to remove incumbent repos e.g. with: sudo apt-add-repository --remove ppa:marutter/rrutter # add new repos sudo apt-add-repository ppa:marutter/rrutter3.5 # for base R sudo apt-add-repository ppa:marutter/c2d4u4.5 # for pkgs - this saved me lots of time installing my set-up At the end

Apologies for delay in sending mail about builds. We have packages ready for all distributions, thanks to Kaleb and Niels. As per [1] (mostly[2]): * Packages for Fedora 24 and Fedora 27 are available at [3]. * Packages for Fedora 25 and Fedora 26 are built and queued in Fedora bodhi for testing. Once pushed to testing they will be available in the Updates-Testing repo. After a nominal testing

Oneiric Ocelot Package missing from PPA
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/w/wine1.3/ I recently tried to install the Latest .29 WINE from the PPA and it ended up using the .15 version from the official Ubuntu 11.10 Repository instead. Although it doesn't matter for .29 (as it has a bug that has since been fixed), I would like to know if we'll be expecting a package on the PPA for the next version, I
