Hot Tier
Hi, If it was just reads then the tier daemon won't migrate the files to hot tier. If you create a file or write to a file that file will be made available on the hot tier. Hot Tier
Hi At this point I already detached Hot Tier volume to run rebalance. Many volume settings only take effect for the new data (or rebalance), so I thought may this was the case with Hot Tier as well. Once rebalance finishes, I'll re-attache hot tier. cluster.write-freq-threshold and cluster.read-freq-threshold control number of times data is read/write before it moved to hot tier. In my case

For the tier daemon to migrate the files for read, few performance translators have to be turned off. By default the performance quick-read and io-cache are turned on. You can turn them off so that the files will be migrated for read. Hi, We will look into the " failed to get index" error. It shouldn't affect the normal working. Do let us know if you face any other issues. Regards, Hari. Why files goes to hot tier and cold tier at same time
Hi, The actual data will be in the hot tier only till demotion. The file that you see on the cold tier is just a linkto file of the file on the hot tier. These linkto file are necessary for the internal working of the tier. Why files goes to hot tier and cold tier at same time
Hi Guys Got a quick question regarding hot tier and cold tier. I got a gluster volume with 1 x 3 hot tier and 1 x 3 cold tier. watermark-low is 75 and watermark-hi is 90. usage of volume is very less. My files always go to hot tier and cold tier at same time As I understand, data should go to hot tier only until demoted. Could someone please shed some light into this? Thanks in advance. --

acts_as_list not CASCADE''ing in singular n-tier model structure
[using RAILs 1.1.2] Has anyone else seen issues where multiple tiered "acts_as_list" models do not CASCADE delete correctly? For instance, I have 4 models, the first 3 in the hierarchy have the appropriate "have_many" declarations with "exclusively_dependent => true". The last the models have the appropriate "acts_as_list" with the correct scope

Tier Volumes
Hello everyone. I have a new GlusterFS setup with 3 servers and 2 volumes. The "HotTier" volume uses Nvme and the "ColdTier" volume uses HDD's. How do I specify the tiers for each volume? I will be adding 2 more HDDs to each server. I would then like to change from a Replicate to Distributed-Replicated. Not sure if that makes a difference in the tiering setup. [root at

Tier 1 Service Providers (AT&T, Level 3)
Anyone here using Level 3 or AT&T wholesale sip terminations services? I would like to know on any minimums they would require? Also, an idea of how competitive the rates are. I am not asking to disclose your custom rate deck, just a "what to expect". Finally, if you guys can PM me contact info to someone from the wholesale department, I would really appreciate it. Kind Regards,

ggplot - line_range help, second tier axis label
Hi All, Will try and keep brief, excuse the poor graphics skills, first time using GIMP. I would like to make the first one look (somewhat) like the second if possible. Enterprise Database Tier (XA transactions, COBRA and MIDAS)
I am developing a large scale financial application which is going to be very intensive write-wise, and use a lot of transactions. I can see how the the web and application servers can be scaled and load balanced quite easily, but not the database tier. The setups I have looked at so far seem to deal with coping with a lot of reads, and minimal writes - this maybe because they are largely

IMAP Clients can not see 3rd tier nested IMAP directories
I have a very bizarre problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am not sure if this is a Dovecot problem, or IMAP client problem. I recently used Transend's Migrator to move mail from Exchange 2007 to my Dovecot 1.0.7 server. The program seems to have moved the nested IMAP dirs properly as seen below in a directory listing of the maildir dir. The nested dirs have indexes, cur, new

Three-tier
Hi Everyone, I''m working at getting Rails introduced in my company. We''re a J2EE shop. Our deployments make use of thee-tiered architecture, just to be clear, that means that there are essentially three machines involved in dealing out an app: a webserver, an application server, and a database server. As I see it (unless I''ve missed something) Ruby is essentially

Blocking IO when hot tier promotion daemon runs
I've recently enabled an SSD backed 2 TB hot tier on my 150 TB 2 server / 3 bricks per server distributed replicated volume. I'm seeing IO get blocked across all client FUSE threads for 10 to 15 seconds while the promotion daemon runs. I see the 'glustertierpro' thread jump to 99% CPU usage on both boxes when these delays occur and they happen every 25 minutes (my
