Ctrl+C in R will terminate the child process which is spawned by using "pipe"
Hi, all, I pressed Ctrl+C in R process, and found that the child process which was spawned by using "pipe" is terminated due to this. Are there any way to work around it, so that the child process can run happily without being terminated? Or can we block the signal for the child process? 1. I used pipe to spawn one C++ process, which will running in a loop without exiting immediately.

correlation structure in lme without random effect
I was hoping to fit along the lines of g<-gl(20,5) y<-runif(100) fit<-lme(fixed=y~g,correlation=corAR1(0,~1|g)) But I get the error "Incompatible formulas for groups in "random" and "correlation"" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ben

Rsync spawning a child process when pulling files ?
Hi, I am using rsync 3.0.4 on a WinXP machine (with CygWin) to synchronize my files to a RedHat Linux server. Everything is working perfectly, but there is one thing I do not understand. Apparently there is a difference in pushing and pulling files with rsync. When I push my files to the server with this command, I see one rsync process on my WinXP machine, just as expected rsync -rlt -e

Windows 10 spawning thousands of child processes on Samba 4.3.11 server
Did you TV/Radio broke?? ;-) This really smells like some malware/cryptoware. Seen this ones on a network, and that was a cypto trying to write to shares. And they to that really really fast. Increast the samba debug logs and track if this is client related. That where i would start. Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at

Error in close.connection(p) : ignoring SIGPIPE signal
Andreas, How right you are! Still, I find it curious that in the context of the while(TRUE) loop, I am allowed to do this 653 times, with failure on the 654th attempt. Perhaps there is something asynchronous going on? If I eliminate the looping, it does indeed fail (as expected) on the first attempt to close the pipe. Rmpi 0.5-6 : error spawning process
Hi, I am using a cluster with LAM 7.1.3/MPI 2 and R 2.6.0. Rmpi version 0.5-5 is working very well. Now I have tested "Rmpi 0.5-6". During spawning the Rslaves I get an error: MPI_Error_string: error spawning process > sessionInfo() R version 2.6.0 (2007-10-03) x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu locale:

OpenBLAS in everyday R?
I didn't do the compile; is there a way to check whether that was used? If not, I'll inquire with our sysadmin and report back. In any case, my suggestion was motivated by the fact that some parts of R use OpenMP while others do not, in the hope that the former could have their OpenBLAS omelet without breaking the OpenMP eggs, so to speak. force promises inside lapply
quote(expr) will make no changes in expr, it just returns its one argument, unevaluated. substitute could be used in your lapply(..., library) example to give library a name instead of a character string for an input (which might be necessary if the character.only argument were not available) lapply(c("MASS", "splines"), function(pkg) eval(substitute(library(pkg),

installation: while running make, unable to run pdflatex on 'NEWS.tex'
A kind member of R-core suggested this is due to a misconfiguration on my system, and to post it to the mailing list for troubleshooting. When trying to build R version 4.3.3, in at least two places during the process it gives LaTeX errors of the form: (example 1) you should 'make docs' now ... make[1]: Entering directory '/home/btyner/R-4.3.3/doc' creating

Error in close.connection(p) : ignoring SIGPIPE signal
Not sure if this is a bug, so posting here first. If I run: ?? cnt <- 0L ?? while (TRUE) { ? ? ?? cnt <- cnt + 1L ? ? ?? p <- pipe("echo /dev/stdin > /dev/null", open = "w") ? ? ?? writeLines("foobar", p) ? ? ?? tryCatch(close(p), error = function(e) { print(cnt); stop(e)}) ?? } then once cnt gets to around 650, it fails with: ?? OpenBLAS in everyday R?
True or False: when USE_OPENMP=1 is not used, then race conditions are not unexpected. If True, and we wish to avoid race conditions, then sources such as the conda channel and ubuntu would need to add this enhancement. If False, then what is the next step (i.e. forum) for debugging the race condition? On 01/11/2018 07:56 AM, Ista Zahn wrote: > > > On Jan 10, 2018 8:24 PM,

This issue arose for me in simulations to estimate confidence, prediction, and tolerance intervals from glm(., family=poisson) fits embedded in a BMA::bic.glm fit using a simulate.bic.glm function I added to the development version of Ecfun, available at "https://github.com/sbgraves237/Ecfun".? rpois(9, 1e10)
So imagine rpois is changed, such that the storage mode of its return value is sometimes integer and sometimes numeric. Then imagine the case where lambda is itself a realization of a random variable. Do we really want the storage mode to inherit that randomness? future update to loess
Background: I'm a student of Prof. Cleveland at Purdue University. Eventually, we'd like to release a new version of the loess routine in R. For starters, this implementation would have support for local polynomial degree 3, better control over the number of cells in the KD tree, and perhaps a better solution in higher predictor dimension. I see that Prof. Ripley was responsible for

disabling 'show status' in activerecord because of overhead of spawning process
hi, i have a app which has a spiky activity, there a large period of inactivity between request. With phusion-passenger after a period of inactivity the process is killed, and when the app is respawned the ''show status'' queries take more time than the actual sql themself. I know that ActiveRecord makes the ''show status'' query once on spawning the server, but is

OpenBLAS in everyday R?
Thanks Keith. We checked, and indeed libopenblas is not linked against libomp nor libgomp. We suspect this is because we used conda to install R and OpenBLAS. So I guess we should be barking up the conda tree instead? By the way, I also noticed on my home machine (Ubuntu), /usr/lib/libopenblas.so.0 is also not linked against those, for what that's worth.
