Specifying priors in a multi-response MCMCglmm
1. (Mainly) Statistical issues are generally off topic on this list.
You might want to try the r-sig-mixed-models list instead.
2. However, I think a better answer is to seek local statistical
expertise in order to have an extended discussion about your research
intent in order to avoid producing yet more irreproducible
psychological research.

Specifying priors in a multi-response MCMCglmm
Hi Bert,
That was distinctly unhelpful, and your outward hostility to a field you
obviously don't understand reveals a regrettable level of ignorance.
By the way, my research is Anthropology despite my job title.

MCMCglmm multinomial model results
Hi,
Thanks in advance for any help on this question. I'm running multinomial
models using the MCMCglmm package. The models have 5 outcome variables
(each with count data), and an additional two random effects built into the
models. The issue is that when I use the following code, the summary only
gives me results for four of the outcome variables.
Here is the code for my model:

MCMCglmm multinomial model results
Hi David,
Thanks for your comment. I haven't posted the data because they are
unpublished and include human subjects so there are issues with sharing on
a list serv, but I thought perhaps someone had encountered a similar
problem and would already know the answer.
I will reconsider whether my University's ethics approval would allow me to
post the data and update the question if I think

Not if you actually follow Bert's advice.

I didn't see any hostility to any field. Bert, like many of us, objects
to people blithely and arrogantly applying possibly

is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?
Hello people,
I used primarily mutt and sendmail for many years. (And elm
before mutt.) All my mail was saved into ~/Mail. Messages
from, say, smith at foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail
from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to
find something that smith had written, I would just cd to
~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase.
Is there a script

MCMCglmm priors including phylogeny
Hi all,
I'm hoping I might be able to get some help with some issues specifying priors for MCMCglmm.
I'm trying to fit a gaussian glmm using MCMCglmm to a data set with two (correlated) response variables. The response variables are both logit-transformed proportions (there are a few reasons why I've chosen these with gaussian error over binomal glmm, which I won't go into).

I have been trying to preform both a bartlett's test and an arcsine
transformation on some average percentage data. I've tried inputting it
different ways and I keep getting the same error message:

How do i translate the old default_mail_env setting?
Hi,
First, I am new to dovecot. Before my Jan '08 meltdown,
sendmail was sufficient. A friend set up dovecot and since
things just-worked, I was happy with that. Now I have a new
mailserver and what was installed nearly two years ago fails.
My pal installed things in dovecot.conf this way:
default_mail_env = maildir:~/Maildir
but the new mail environment is too different to be

question about warning message in nlme model
I am writing to inquire about a warning message that I receive when
trying to model a random slope and intercept at the second level of a
3-level model. Specifically, I am testing a 3-level model in which
time (WEEK) is nested in participants (PARTICIP) and participants are
nested in dyads (DYADID). The goal is to examine how an interpersonal
style (CORUMTO) one week predicts changes in

Centos and Software RAID
I purchased an Intel D945GNT motherboard and it comes in the BIOS with
an option to create a RAID 0 or RAID 1 volumes using my existing two
SATA disks. However when installing Centos 4.3 x86_64 I see the the
installer recognices the two drives and does not "see" the RAID 0.
Is that ok?
Should I disable the RAID in the BIOS and then go for a LVM+RAID 0
setup in the installer ?

For you old-timers, an RS232 question about data rate confirmation.
Hello all.
This is a question that I should be able to answer, but the old grey
cells aren't working. My Google-Fu must not be up to snuff, either.
I have a MOXA IP-RS232 converter that I'm going to be using over an RF
WAN and I need to confirm the actual data rate that I'll be able to
achieve. I have the drivers loaded (/dev/ttyr00) and a loopback plug on
the end of the device. I

IBM x226 lockups, convert CentOS to RHEL 3.0
I have a friend who has been having an intermittent problem with his
nice, shiny new IBM x226 server. It's a Xeon processor, 1.5Gb RAM,
hardware RAID controller running CentOS 3
The system will will sometimes run for a couple of weeks, then simply
lock up -- nothing on the console, no response to pings, no "caps-lock"
lights, no kernel panic indicators, nothing in the logs to

I am running 1.6.0.15 and am trying to get IMAP storage working. I
have had no trouble doing so, except that I wish to create a subfolder
in my account for voicemail, such that I have:

INBOX

I can set IMAPFOLDER=#voicemail.INBOX in voicemail.conf and successfully
get voicemail to work as expected.

PostgreSQL & SELinux problem
Hi.
I just installed Centos 4. I''m pretty sure that I chose to have it
install postgresql but when the system came up, it wasn''t there. No
worries. I installed it from the net with ''yum''. Unfortunately, when I
started it up and it tried to init the database, I got a bunch of
SELinux errors:

Who has the clever Polycom upgrade system?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I remember someone wrote a great document concerning Polycom server
provisioning that provided a way to ensure that updates to the firmware
did not overwrite customizations. I'll be damned if I can remember
where I saw it. It may have been discussed during a VUC session or may
have been on this list.
Either way, I'm unable to google my way

Another Tar stopper
Well, I have been busy getting child #4 off on her way to college
(joining #2). So now it is quite with just the 2 youngest and I can get
work done again!.
tar stops as follows:
/root/.nautilus/metafiles/x-nautilus-desktop:%2F%2F52F.xml
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
I thought perhaps this is some file locked becuase I was running from a
terminal session in gnome.

Add Monitor application to call suppresses audio
I have an application where we receive calls on an inbound PRI. After
hours, our Asterisk box dials our answering service on an outbound PRI
and then bridges the caller to the answering service. The flow looks
like this:
(CALLER)INBOUND_PRI --> CONTEXT --> GOSUB(Incoming) -->
GOSUB(bridge-to-anssrv) --> DIAL(answering_service) -->
OUTBOUND_PRI(service)

Gosub behavior change <=1.6.0.5 to 1.6.0.6
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Here's one that may be of interest to any upgraders. If you rely on the
behavior of gosub you may want to make note of this change.
I have an incoming call context:
exten => _XXXX,n,GoSub(incoming,${EXTEN},1(${EXTEN}));
that is supposed to gosub into the incoming extension at priority 1.
Versions before 1.6.0.6 would drop into the
