Unable to load packages RODBC and RODBCext in R
I don't use Windows, but this looks like a Windows permissions issue, no?
You could try moving them yourself manually or create another library
directory that R can access to put them in.
... or wait and hope for advice from someone who uses Windows to give you a
definitive answer.
Cheers,

Keep on getting message errors when trying to install and load packages
Dear R friends,
I am currently using Windows 8, 64-bit operating system, x64-based
processor. I have installed R version 3.4.1 "Single Candle".
Also, I have several packages installed in this path:
C:\Users\PaulBernal\Documents\R\win-library\3.4
Plus some other packages installed in this other path:
C:\Users\PaulBernal\Desktop\DESTOP FILES\R Books

Keep on getting message errors when trying to install and load packages
Dear Paul,
Maybe some of the packages were installed by a user with admin rights
and you are installing them with a user how has no admin rights. Thus
you have no rights to remove the files created by the admin user.
We made clear to our IT departement that they only may install R and
not additional packages. We also tell them to set the environment
variable R_LIBS_USER to C:/R/library and make

Keep on getting message errors when trying to install and load packages
Hi Paul,
I recently ran into file path conflicts and found the following useful
(looks like you already know the answer to 1.):
1. Use .libPaths() to find where packages are being stored.
2. To change this path: Control Panel > search ?View advanced system
settings? > Environment Variables *button *>
a. *Edit* current R_LIBS_USER to new file path
b. *New*

Keep on getting message errors when trying to install and load packages
Dear Leslie and Thierry,
Thank you so much for your kind and extremely valuable replies. Only one
doubt remains, which path do you think is the best option to store
downloaded packages? Should I set it up so that all installed packages are
in the same folder (path) that I installed R? Or can I simply set it up so
that all installed packages are stored in a different path?
Again, thank you guys

Keep on getting message errors when trying to install and load packages
Dear Paul,
We install R in C:/R/R-x.y.z and packages in C:/R/library. This makes
the packages location independent from the R version.

*varTypes an optional named character vector giving the DBMSs datatypes to
be used for*
*some (or all) of the columns if a table is to be

Segun entiendo

Is it normal for R to store installed packages in paths like the following?

Rails / ActionPack thread safety
Hi all,
Both the rails book (1st Ed) and the docs on the rails site (*and* the
Mongrel FAQ) tell me that rails (& ActionPack /ActiveRecord) is not
threadsafe. Since I need lots of worker threads in the app I''m working on
(details at the end of this mail) this poses quite a problem for me.
Is the lack of thread safety a conscious design decision (kind of
understandable for rails

CentOs 7 i386 & PAE Kernel
Hi Gurus,
I've been playing with CentOS 7's AltArch i386 builds with some good results on one machine, but can't get it to boot properly on another with a newer Bay Trail CPU. Previously CentOS 6 i386 worked on both, and that set a legacy I'd like to recreate...
I *think* the problem is that the 7 kernel is non-PAE, and that has some peculiar knock on effect that prevents some

Asterisk PBX in Debian
Hi everyone.
I've installed Asterisk PBX using apt packages, but i don't have actually
any Digium card, so i want to use ztdummy.
I've tried to modify the Makefiles in the debian source package, i don't get
any error, but still the ztdummy module doesn't get compiled.
Does anybody has idea how to get the ztdummy module using the debian package
system?
Thanks for your help.

Flat file as storage backend or what ...
Hi.
I''m just starting out with Rails. I''m thinking of writing a web based
PIM, partly as a learning experience, partly because I need one. I''ll
be using iCalendar and vCard files for for storage because it will let
me sync with PDAs, and use other already available PIMs.
What would be the best practice for this?

Debian sarge package for 1.2beta1?
Hello,
has anyone seen or created a Debian Sarge package for 1.2beta1?
I saw some for Sid, but I prefer not upgrading glibc right now, as
this is a production server (Asterisk on it will be for testing).
Thanks,
Juraj.

Setting up Tomcat as a service under CentOS 4?
I've found about a dozen different ways to skin this cat (no pun
intended). Everything from creating a script in /etc/init.d/ to using
jsvc. I was hoping someone out there, those of you out there who run
Tomcat in this manner, how did *you* set this up? I can't seem to get it
right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or even direction to an
authoritative document.

saveRDS()/readRDS() on environments
Dear r-devel,
I was surprised to see that saveRDS() and readRDS() work quite well with
environments, see below:
```
z <- 3 # in global env
y <- new.env()
y$a <- 1
x <- new.env(parent = y)
x$b <- 2
saveRDS(x, "x.RDS")
# in a new session
x <- readRDS("x.RDS")
y <- parent.env(x)
x$b
#> [1] 2
y$a
#> [1] 1
parent.env(y)
#> <environment:
