example fails during R CMD CHECK but works interactively?
Thank you Dan but it isn't my tests that are failing (all of them pass without problem) but one of the examples from the inst/examples directory. I did try, however, to start R with the environmental variables as you suggest but it had no effect on my tests. example fails during R CMD CHECK but works interactively?
Make the example print out Sys.getenv() and then manually inspect? Otherwise, you'll need to debug the code by adding print statements. Something clearly is not as you expect, so you need carefully empirically verify your assumptions about the inputs to and environment of the function. [R-pkgs] New versions of Matrix and lme4 packages for R-2.4.0
Thanks, Douglas. It works. Only one gripe. Every time I want to try a new version of your software, I have to get, compile, patch the latest bleeding edge version of R as well: ERROR: This R is version 2.3.1 package 'Matrix' needs R >= 2.4.0 Douglas Bates wrote: > Versions 0.9975-1 of the Matrix and lme4 packages will soon be available on > CRAN for use with R

[R-pkgs] A new version of the package “TestSurvRec” is now available on CRAN
Dear useRs, A new version of the package “TestSurvRec” is now available on CRAN. In this version I add new function and new data of recurrent events. The new function called “Plot.Data.Events” plots recurrent event data and the new data is useful as example for see the functionally of the others functions of the package. [R-pkgs] bpcp package for pointwise confidence intervals for a survival distribution
Hi all, I just uploaded a new version of the bpcp package. It calculates confidence intervals for a survival distribution for right-censored data using the newly developed beta product confidence procedure. Previously developed methods can have substantial error rate inflation for the lower limit, especially at the right end of the curves when there are small numbers of events. The bpcp method

[R-pkgs] Introducing pedgene 1.2 on CRAN
Dear useRs: We would like to introduce the "pedgene" package, version 1.2, available now on CRAN, with a brief manual available as a vignette: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/pedgene/index.html The pedgene package performs gene-level kernel and burden association tests with disease status and continuous response for pedigree data, as described in our recent paper: Schaid, D.

R-packages posting guide (was: Re: [R-pkgs] New version of glmmML)
Maybe an R-packages posting guide with an example and an automatic append of a one or two line summary at the end of each article posted - as already done on r-help. [R-pkgs] Probabilistic neural network (PNN)
Dear useRs, I am pleased to announce the release of the new package PNN. PNN implements the algorithm proposed by Specht (1990). It is written in the R statistical language. It solves a common problem in automatic learning. Knowing a set of observations described by a vector of quantitative variables, we classify them in a given number of groups. Then, the algorithm is trained with this datasets

[R-pkgs] depmixS4 version 1.3-0 on CRAN
Package news (see below for general description of functionality) depmixS4 version 1.3-0 has been released on CRAN. See the NEWS file for an overview of all changes. The most important user-visible changes are: 1) more compact pretty-printing of parameters in print/summary of (dep)mix objects (following lm/glm style of presenting results) 2) some speed improvements in the EM algorithm, most

Survival 2.39
A new version of the survival package has been released. The biggest change is stronger support for multi-state models, which is an outgrowth of their increasing use in my own practice. Interested users are directed to the "time dependent covariates" vignette for discussion of the tmerge and survSplit functions, which are useful tools to build the requisite data sets, and to the

rPref 1.0 - Computing Pareto Optima and Database Preferences
Dear R users, the first 1.0 version of the rPref package is now on CRAN. rPref allows to select the Pareto-optimal tuples from a data set, also called Skylines in the database community. For example, optimal tuples from mtcars according to "high(mpg) * high(hp)" (where "*" is the Pareto operator) are those cars, for which no other dominating car exists. There, a car
