I want to change the colour of the probability line from the default red to black. I have not been able to find out how to do that. If you look at the code for that function you see this line: logi.curve <-

How to specify minimum and maximum x-axis value in logi.hist.plot?
Hi guys, How could I specify minimum and maximum x-axis values in logi.hist.plot? My code is something like this: plot(mydata$Temperature,mydata$Mortality, ,xlab="Temperature",ylab="Probability of mortality") curve(predict(temp.glm,data.frame(Temperature=x),type="resp"),add=TRUE, col="red") points(mydata$Temperature,fitted(temp.glm),pch=20)

Popbio - can't find or load
Hello, I'm in need of running a PVA and want to load {popbio}. However, I can't find it. I can't see where or how to load it. I have added repositories and changed the CRAN mirror site. I see {polynom} and {popgen} but no {popbio} between. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Michelle [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Bandwidth limiting
Hello. I need help with limiting bandwidth. I have read every tutorial I''ve come over and I just can''t make anything work. Ok, here''s the scenario: I have a gateway, which has five network interfaces (eth0 -> eth4), eth0 is the ''external'' one and eth[1-4] are supposed to be limited to 128Kbit/s each. The interfaces eth[1-4] each have a C-class

ggplot seq
Hi Hadley: Not sure if you received my email, so I am resending it again. I have dealt with this before and I can't remember how it got resolved. It is too much data to reproduce the example below(49.000 records) but all I am after is trying to get the x axis breaks. I want my x axis to go from 27 to 51 and 1 to 25 by 2. I am trying to concatenate the breaks but it sorts the seq() in ascending

TEQL: 2 Mbit eth1 + 2Mbit eth2 = 1Mbit teql0
Hi there, I have two ethernet connections of 2Mbit/s each and I''m trying to add them together to one 4Mbit/s connection but I cannot get more than approximate 1Mbit/s! My setup: I have a LAN (10.2.18.0/24), connected to a larger network (10.0.0.0/8) by two WAN-connections with 2Mbit/s each. On each end I have a Linux router. I first setup the routers to use TEQL with one of the

popbio and stochastic lambda calculation
Hello R users, I am trying to calculate the stochastic lambda for a published matrix population model using the popbio package. Unfortunately, I have been unable to match the published results. Can anyone tell me whether this is due to slightly different methods being used, or have I gone wrong somewhere in my code? Could the answer be as simple as comparing deterministic lambdas to

stochastic growth rate (package biopop)
Dear all, I am running matrix population models using package "popbio". In a deterministic model {i.e., transition matrix is defined as A <- matrix(c(0.70, 0.70,0.35,0.50), nrow=2,byrow=TRUE}, population growth rate can be estimated from the dominant eigenvalue {command "eigen.analysis"}. However, I cannot figure out the way to compute the asymptotic stochastic population

Modify the plot from countCDFxt
Hello, I am running the plot from countCDFxt (popbio). I would like to report the y-axis as a percent instead of the log scale (e^01...). I can add an axis with axis(2, 0:1, line =2) but I'm having trouble understanding how to assign the tic marks (with 'at ='). I'd like to tell it to make tics with the percent value (or decimal if that's my only option) at the equivalent of

How to get back POSIXct format after calculating with hist() results
Hi, I have a casting/formatting question on hist.POSIXt: The histogram plot from POSIXct works perfect (with help of Prof. Ripley -thanks!). When processing the hist(plot=FALSE) output and then plotting the results over the x-axis (bins) coming from hist(), I lose the date/time labels, getting instead integers displayed. Trying to cast the $breaks with as.POSIXct gives silly results with

Bug in hist() when working with Dates ?
Hi, It seems that hist() has a buggy behavior when breaking over "days". The bug can be reproduced in a few steps: > d=data.frame(date=c("2009-01-01", "2009-01-02", "2009-01-02")) > d$date=as.Date(d$date) > d$date [1] "2009-01-01" "2009-01-02" "2009-01-02" > h=hist(d$date, "days") > h$count [1] 3

problem reading Matlab file into R
Hi, I'm trying to read a .mat file into R (2.11.1) with medium success so far. The file I have is a MATLAB 5.0 MAT-file exported from RiverSurveyor LIVE software (http://www.sontek.com/software.php). I have R.matlab and Rcompression installed and readMat() starts reading the file, as can be seen in verbose mode (hence medium success), but then gives the following error: Error in dim(matrix)

error in parallel:::sendMaster
Hi, I am facing a very weird problem with parallel::mclapply. I have a script which does some data wrangling on an input dataset in parallel and then writes the results to disk. I have been using this script daily for more than one year always on an EC2 instance launched from the same AMI (no updates installed after launch) and processed thousands of different input data sets successfully. I now

error in parallel:::sendMaster
Hi Andreas, the error is reported when some child process cannot send results to the master process, which originates from an error returned by write() - when write() returns -1 or 0. The logic around the writing has not changed since R 3.5.2. It should not be related to the printing in the child, only to returning the value. The problem may be originating from the execution environment,

Zimbra benchmarking
Now that I have a working kvm setup, I thought I'd finally try how Zimbra works. This is mainly some microbenchmarking, so it may not have much to do with actual performance in real life. Setup: - 1GB memory given to kvm (from host's 2GB) - Intel Core 2 6600 (kvm uses only one CPU) - CentOS 5 - 15GB qcow2 image on XFS filesystem - Zimbra 5.0 RC2 RHEL5 x86_64 - Dovecot latest hg,

Elasticity in Leslie Matrix

error in parallel:::sendMaster
Hi Andreas, thank you very much, good job finding it was EBADF. Now the question is why the pipe has been closed prematurely; it could be accidentally by R (a race condition in the cleanup code in fork.c) or possibly by some other code running in the same process (maybe the R program itself or some other code it runs). Maybe we can take this off the list and come back when we know the cause
