Cross-Validation for Zero-Inflated Models
Hi all
I have developed a zero-inflated negative binomial model using the
zeroinfl function from the pscl package, which I have carried out model
selection based on AIC and have used likelihood ratio tests (lrtest from
the lmtest package) to compare the nested models [My end model contains
2 factors and 4 continuous variables in the count model plus one
continuous variable in the zero-inflated

Goodness of fit test / pseudo r^2 measure for Zero Inflated Model
Hi
I have been using a Zero-Inflated negative binomial model fitted using
the pscl zeroinfl command but I would like to extract a goodness of fit
measure are there any suitable pseudo R^2 measures available for this
type of analysis to try and assess the amount of variation in the data
explained by the model?
I have tried with the pR2 command in pscl (for computing various pseudo

Permission problems with samba 2.2.x
Hello,
Sometimes I have to create and use Navision Databases on samba shares - this
works with samba 2.0.x but does not with samba 2.2.x (tried 2.2.3a and 2.2.4).
The following tests were done with a acl enabeled samba and an acl aware
kernel/filesystem, but I also have done these tests with acl not compiled into
samba on an host without acl in the kernel - same result, does not work, same

Problems using gamlss to model zero-inflated and overdispersed count data: "the global deviance is increasing"
Dear all,
I am using gamlss (Package gamlss version 4.0-0, R version 2.10.1, Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a HP EliteBook) to relate bird counts to habit variables. However, most models fail because “the global deviance is increasing” and I am not sure what causes this behaviour. The dataset consists of counts of birds (duck) and 5 habit variables measured in the field (n= 182). The dependent

ANCOVA/glm missing/ignored interaction combinations
Hi
I am using R version 2.7.2. on a windows XP OS and have a question
concerning an analysis of covariance with count data I am trying to do,
I will give details of a scaled down version of the analysis (as I have
more covariates and need to take account of over-dispersion etc etc) but
as I am sure it is only a simple problem but I just can't see how to fix
it.
I have a data set with count

subsetting a list of dataframes
Hello All,
I have a list of dataframes, and I need to subset it by keeping only those
dataframes in the list that meet a certain criterion. Specifically, I need
to generate a second list which only includes those dataframes whose number
of rows is > 1.
Could someone suggest how to do this? I have come close to what I need with
loops and such, but there must be a less clumsy way...

Zero inflated count models
Can someone show me how to specify zero inflated poisson and zero
inflated negative poisson models in R? I would like to replicate the
example given in Long (1997: Regression Models for Categorical and
Limited Dependent Variables) in Chapter 8.5 (pp. 242-247).
TIA

Zero inflated Models- pscl package
Dear R users,
I want to apply zero inflated models with continuous and categorical
variables and I used pscl package from R and the zeroinf() function. My
question are the follow:
a) The value of fitted.values is mu or (1-p)*mu? where p is the probability
of zero came form a zero point mass
b) If mu is zero, how do i know if it is a zero from the zero point mass or
from the count process?

RE: zero-inflated count models (was polr problem solved)

Deviance in Zero inflated models
Dear list,
I am running some zero inflated models and would like to know what the
deviance of the models. Unlike running a normal GLM where the deviance is
displayed in the summary all that is displayed in a summary of the zero
inflated model is the log likelihood. I hope this isn't a read the manual
question, and if it is I apologize for wasting your time, but if you could

Standard errors for predictions of zero-inflated models
Dear all,
I am using the zeroinfl() function from the pscl package to develop a zero-inflated Poisson GLM. I would like to calculate the standard errors of predicted values. I've tried code posted in a previous discussion on this topic (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2008-December/182806.html), and I don't understand the results. Before I apply this code, I get the predicted value

randomForest - what is a 'good' pseudo r-squared?
Hi all
I have been trying to use the randomForest package to model insect species abundance in different habitats and identify the key variables (landscape/climate etc) in determining abundance, which has all worked fine and I get nice variable importance plots etc. Many thanks to everyone on this help forum who has given tips/advice along the way.
But the percentage variance explained /pseudo r

glmmADMB: Mixed models for overdispersed and zero-inflated count data in R
Dear R-users,
Earlier this year I posted a message to this list regarding
negative binomial mixed models in R. It was suggested that
the program I had written should be turned into an R-package.
This has now been done, in collaboration with David Fournier
and Anders Nielsen.
The R-package glmmADMB provides the following GLMM framework:
- Negative binomial or Poisson responses.
- Zero-inflation

zero-inflated mixed models
Does anyone know of an existing R package or code to run a mixed Hurdle
model?
I found glmmADMB, but that seems to be ZIP.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Jeff

clusters in zero-inflated negative binomial models
Dear all,
I want to build a model in R based on animal collection data, that look like the following
Nr Village District Site Survey Species Count
1 AX A F Dry B 0
2 AY A V Wet A 5
3 BX B F Wet B 1
4 BY B V Dry B 0
Each data point shows one collection unit in a certain Village, District, Site, and Survey for a certain Species. 'Count' is the number of animals collected in that

zero inflated poisson and censored-continuous models
I wonder if there is a package that will estimate a Zero Inflated Poisson
Model (ZIP), and also if there is a package that will estimate what is
called the Tobit model: that is a combination of censored and observed
values in the same sample.

rotate column names in large matrix
Dear List,
I have a large (1600*1600) matrix generated with symnum, that I am using to
eyeball the structure of a dataset.
I have abbreviated the column names with the abbr.colnames option. One way
to get an even more compact view of the matrix would be to display the
column names rotated by 90 degrees.
Any pointers on how to do this would be most useful. Any other tips for
displaying the
