a difficult situation, how to do this using base function.
1. Please always reply to the list, especially here so that others can
see your clarification.
2. What happens if your match.start value exceeds all the cumulative
sums?? -- you seem to imply that this cannot happen.
Your minimal example, while a little confusing (to me) and in html --
this can get mangled in this plain text list, though seemingly not
here -- was very helpful. Essential even .

2 bugs when parsing emphasized or bold text
I''ve found 2 bugs that produce (imho) incorrect rendering results:
1) The regexp for strong (*) and bold (**) is greedy, which produces
very strange results.
The simplest way to show the problem is to give an example.
This is the original code:
=====
Strong:
Lets do a little test *t*
this should not be strong *u*.
Bold:
Lets do another test **t**
this should not be bold **u**.

[LLVMdev] Linux-x86 Compatability
ISSUE: ExternalFunctions.cpp::lookupFunction() calls dlsym(RTLD_DEFAULT,
...). In glibc, dlfcn.h does not make RTLD_DEFAULT visible unless
_GNU_SOURCE is #defined. Unlike the evil money-grubbing non-free
software pigs at sun, the FSF is trying not to pollute the C namespace. ;)
ACTION: Hack the Makefile to #define _GNU_SOURCE while compiling in
tools/lli. Yes, I know that this is ugly.

Call notification on IP Telephone
Hi everybody,
I'm seeking information on how to report an IP phone
on a call that is occurring on another IP phone.
Example:
While the A phone is ringing, Asterisk sends a
notification to a phone B on the call that is going to A, but this
notification is displayed on the B phone display and the user does not
need to hit anything to view the information.

melting columns
Hello,
I'm using R to run a acoustic analysis software called Seewave. I ask the code to extract a list of variables from my recording, and the program give ONE table for each of these. The tables consist of a two column data.frame with the time in column 1 and the frequency in column 2. However, for my purpose I need only one column with the time first and the frequency second. I tried

Default FPENV state
Hi,
We are interesting in expanding some vector operations directly in the
IR form as constants https://reviews.llvm.org/D33406,
for example: _mm256_cmp_ps("any input", "any input", _CMP_TRUE_UQ)
should produce -1, -1, -1, ... vector, but for some values for example
"1.00 -nan" if FPU exceptions were enabled this operation triggers the
exception. Here is the question:

Custom Print Command
I'm trying to setup my public printers to do 4 pages per sheet, and am
having nothing but problems making it work.
The system is a Redhat 4.2 box running Samba 1.9.18p4, and the
printers are postscript capable HP 4000 and 8000 machines.
Using Redhat's printtool to set 4 page per sheet output works when
printing via lpr, but as soon as I print from a Win95 box through
samba, it's

fonction PLATEAU???
Hello,
I am working on extracting data from sound recording (fee bee song of the black-capped chickadee). I obtained a two column matrix with x=time(s) and y=frequency(khz). The part of the recording that is interesting me is when the frequency is stable. Does somebody ever used a fonction that extract only constant data among a huge list of data (sample= 180000)?
Thanks

is it a bug or a feature? re:time zone differences, laptops, and suggestion for a new option
It's much easier than that. The linux box keeps time in GMT, and displays
it in the configured time zone. Try this, on the linux box:
"touch testfile
ls -l testfile
TZ=EST5
export TZ
ls -l testfile"
You will see the displayed time change, because it's being translated from
epoch time (that's what I call it, anyway) - seconds since midnight,
January 1, 1970.

ZFS Prefetch Tuning
Hi All,
Is there a way to tune the zfs prefetch on a per pool basis? I have a
customer that is seeing slow performance on a pool the contains multiple
tablespaces from an Oracle database, looking at the LUNs associated to
that pool they are constantly at 80% - 100% busy. Looking at the output
from arcstat for the miss % on data, prefetch and metadata we are
getting around 5 - 10 % on data,

Looking for descriptions of difficult problems
Hi all,
Paul Anderson, a friend of mine who works at the University of
Edinburgh, is looking for complicated problems that are currently
difficult to handle with existing config mgmt tools.
Please read his request below, and if you have any difficult problems
that seem to meet his needs, I''d appreciate it if you would send
descriptions of them to him.
Thanks,
Luke

Difficult bug
My program allows users to create an account to login, etc. like most
other programs. I am using the login routine supplied by rails.
In my program I have an option to ''add funds'' to the account. When the
user selects this option I ask them how much they want to pay, etc., I
then take this info and the user is taken to an authorize.net payment
page (I pass the data that

The simplest bar graph with ggplot is difficult to realize
Dear all,
What is the simplest way of producing a bar graph using ggplot but
avoiding calling qplot?
That is, given:
d <- data.frame(x=seq(1,5), y=seq(1,5))
Why does the following line return an error?
ggplot(d, aes(x=x, y=y)) + stat_identity() + geom_bar(bindwidth=1)
Thanks in advance,
jcb!
