Popup Calendar and DateBoxEngine and Change Made ...
Community,
I have been putting off implementing a Date selector for too long.
Tonight, I finally put it in. I made the choice to go with the datebox
engine.
Once I got it installed and working, I realized I didn''t like the way it
required you to call it. Example:
<% @dateField = model.date %>
<%= date_box %>
or...
<% @dateField1 = model.date %>

R not loading
I am having a problem with loading R on my 64 bit computer. It used to load perfectly until I upgraded to R 3.0.0 now it takes about 10 to even 20 minutes ? Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?

Testing equality of coefficients in coxph model
Dear all,
I'm running a coxph model of the form:
coxph(Surv(Start, End, Death.ID) ~ x1 + x2 + a1 + a2 + a3)
Within this model, I would like to compare the influence of x1 and x2 on the
hazard rate.
Specifically I am interested in testing whether the estimated coefficient
for x1 is equal (or not) to the estimated coefficient for x2.
I was thinking of using a Chow-test for this but the Chow

reading simulations
Hi to all the people (again),
I'm doing some simulations with the memisc package of an own function, but
I've the problem that I didn't know how to read the result of such
simulations. My function is:

returning strings to R from C functions
I'm using .C() and .External() and have no problems sending integers,
reals or strings from R to C. Nor do I have problems sending integers
or reals back from C to R. But I'm pulling my hair out trying to set
a string value in a C function and then sending it back from C to to
R. I've searched the usual sources and tried various casts, macros
and allocation schemes, but I'm

Predicting responses using ace
Hello everybody,
I'm a new user of R and I'm working right now with the ACE function
from the acepack library. I Have a question: Is there a way to predict
new responses using ACE? What I mean is doing something similar to the
following code that uses PPR (Projection Pursuit Regression):

plotting survival curves (multiple curves on single graph)
Hello.
This is a follow-up to a question I posted last week. With some
previous suggestions from the R-help community, I have been able to
plot survival (, hazard, and density) curves using published data for
Siler hazard parameters from a number of ethnographic populations.

Help to select the raw in a data.frame with the max value

thank for the attention. I have a data.frame with 5 columns (ex:ID,
a1,a2,a3,a4) and 1000 rows. I wish to find the absolute max value for all

surprisingly, S4 classes with a "dim" or "dimnames" slot are final (in the Java sense)
Hi,
It's nice to be able to define S4 classes with slots that correspond
to standard attributes:
setClass("A1", slots=c(names="character"))
setClass("A2", slots=c(dim="integer"))
setClass("A3", slots=c(dimnames="list"))
By doing this, one gets a few methods for free:

User defined function's argument as Subset function's input
Dear R users,
I have a data where I desire to subset according to certain conditions.
However, the script is very messy as there are about 30 distinct conditions.
(i.e. same script but with different conditions)
I would like to make a user defined function so that I can input the desired

I am trying to write an R function to plot the survival function (and
associated hazard and density) for a Siler competing hazards model.
This model is similar to the Gompertz-Makeham, with the addition of a
juvenile component that includes two parameters---one that describes
the initial infant mortality rate, and a negative exponential that

I want to do something like this in R. If I have three vectors

I want to compute
1. A vector that is the mean at each serial position of a1, a2, and a3.
so in this example it would have the contents
4.667, 5.667, 5.333333
2. A vector that is the SD at each serial position of a1, a2, and a3.

I have two data frame A and B adn want to cross them.
A has format as:

the combine result shall be something like
