SPSS R-Menu for Ordinal Factor Analysis
Dear all, I am trying to conduct an enhanced version of factor analysis with a SPSS interface that allows to use R. This approach has been suggested in the recent article: Basto, M. and J.M. Pereira An SPSS R-Menu for Ordinal Factor Analysis. Journal of Statistical Software 46, pp. 1-29. My variables are ordinal-type and the tool of Basto allows to run polychoric correlations in the SPSS

R 'arima' discrepancies
Rob J Hyndman gives great explanation here (https://robjhyndman.com/hyndsight/estimation/) for reasons why results from R's arima may differ from other softwares. @iacobus, to cite one, 'Major discrepancies between R and Stata for ARIMA' (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22443395/major-discrepancies-between-r-and-stata-for-arima), assign the, sometimes, big diferences from R

Debian - IceCast v2.4.2 SSL Support
Hi there, Any idea? I found from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744815 <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744815> that there is a license problem and therefor Icecast no longer support SSL on Debian. Please help me. Is this the situation? I’m happy with other linux distribution if there is a working package for it with SSL Support. Moimoi, Oskar

Several PCA questions...
Hi, I am doing PCA on several columns of data in a data.frame. I am interested in particular rows of data which may have a particular combination of 'types' of column values (without any pre-conception of what they may be). I do the following... # My data table. allDat <- read.table("big_select_thresh_5", header=1) # Where some rows look like this... # PDB SUNID1

problem with building package on CRAN
Dear friends, I have just gotten a strange error message back from Uwe saying that the most recent version of psych failed to pass R CMD check for Windows. The error message was less than helpful, in that it seems to have failed when trying to include the Rcpp library, which I do not directly call. (see below) "* using log directory

Debian - IceCast v2.4.2 SSL Support
Hi there, Is there something I’m missing here… INFO connection/get_ssl_certificate No SSL capability Does this indicate that I have a package not supporting SSL or have I misconfigured something somewhere? Two Listening sockets 8000 and 8001 (tried also 8002 & 8443) SSL enabled. Certificate (public and private part together in one file) .pem. read access for user, group and other too…

smbd service won't start
I have been looking at samba for about 3 days and on Unix to provide shares for our NT system. My problem is that I can't seem to start the smbd process. There are some started but by the guest user and I'm sure I need one started by the root user. If I simply type the command it returns no errors to the screen, but there are errors in the log.smb file. The error is: - standard

Installing an Archived Package
Hello again, I did not expect the browser to automatically extract, so I changed the Safari setting and it downloaded as a ?gz? file. It is clear now that R is finding the package but I get a different error as follows: > install.packages("polycor_0.7-8.tar.gz", repos=NULL, type="source") ERROR: dependency ?mvtnorm? is not available for package ?polycor? * removing

Hello Michael and Duncan, Thank you for your pointers. The file downloaded without the ?gz? extension to my R working directory folder as a ?tar? file. I did not unpack the file. I tried renaming the file and running the code with ?gz? added - please see below. > install.packages("/polycor_0.7-8.tar.gz", repos=NULL, type="source") Warning: invalid package

You can tell Macintosh not to automatically unpack tar.gz files. https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/961/how-to-stop-safari-from-unzipping-files-after-download On Wed, May 16, 2018 at 11:24 AM, Evguenia Ignatova <evg.ignatova at gmail.com> wrote: > Hello, > > I am having difficulty installing the most recent compatible version of the ?polycor" package (0.7-8), for R

install.packages("/polycor_0.7-8.tar.gz", repos=NULL, type="source") The initial slash would be a problem - it means to find poglycor_0.7.8.tar.gz in the root directory. Remove the slash, find where the tar.gz file was put, and try using that location. Recall the destdir setting you used in download.packages or use file.exists() and dir() to help find it.
