Spork + Autotest Failure
Hi folks, I''m going through railstutorial.org and so I apologize if
I''m hitting the wrong group here and would appreciate any appropriate
redirection if necessary.
I''ve set up Spork + Autotest as per Michael''s instructions in
http://ruby.railstutorial.org/chapters/static-pages#sec:testing_tools
Essentially by doing the following (using rvm & I''m

autotest with Growl not working
Hi I''m new and using Ruby on Rails 3 but when I run $ autotest nothing
happens (I have growl installed). If I run $ rspec spec then I get the

I have the following gems installed for autotest (checked via $ gem
list):

Autotest, cucumber, spork and the wrong file
Running:
Rails 3.0.5
ZenTest 4.5.0
autotest (4.4.6, 4.3.2)
autotest-fsevent (0.2.5, 0.2.2)
autotest-growl (0.2.9, 0.2.4)
autotest-rails (4.1.0)
autotest-rails-pure (4.1.2, 4.1.0)
cucumber (0.10.2)
cucumber-rails (0.4.0)
spork (0.9.0.rc4)
Gives me a truly bizarre situation. When I touch my features file,
autotest runs a single, unrelated rspec test.
Cucumber alone or with spork gives me the

Combining autotest, rspec, rspec_on_rails and spec-server
Hello,
I''ve been trying to google the definitive way to combine autotest,
rspec, and spec-server, but to no avail. It seems like there are lots
of suggestions from old versions. Furthermore, some commands such as
rake:autotest don''t seem to be around anymore.
So, is it required to install ZenTest as a gem? I have version 3.9.1.
I believe this gets me the autotest

Everyone Using Rspec Autotest?
I haven''t been spec''ing lately, but been hopping back on and adding
autotest.
However I get an error:
http://pastie.caboo.se/177538/wrap
I also noticed a post by Scott and there was mention of rspec_autotest.
Is this is what everyone is using?

Strange behaviour with pending specs and implementation_backtrace
Hi all,
I''m using my own OutputFormatter with /bin/spec to catch rspec results. I''m experiencing strange behaviour with pending specs and implementation_backtrace.
This is my example_pending implementation in rspactor_formatter.rb:
class RSpactorFormatter
def example_pending(example, message)
spec = SpecObject.new(
:name => example.description,

Autotest rspec issues
I''m having trouble getting autotest to run "out of the box" with rspec.
I''ve got a Leopard setup with Zentest 3.5.0, rspec on trunk, and rails
2.0PR. No ".autotest" file.
There are a couple of issues:
1. Running ''autotest'' inititally yields a command not found for "spec
--diff unified etc etc". This seems to be an old issue but

Rails 3, Rspec 2, Autotest
Trying to set up a Rails 3 project with RSpec and Autotest. I followed
these steps exactly:
http://gist.github.com/365816
But when I start up autotest, I get:
$ autotest
loading autotest/rails
style: Rails
instead of:
$ autotest
loading autotest/rails_rspec2
style: RailsRspec2
And autotest doesn''t seem to do anything. Any idea what''s happening?
I''m using Ruby

Ugly, garbled output from autotest
I am getting this horribly ugly output from autotest when a test fails.
Normal output from ''rake test'':

1) Failure:
test_export_format(TaskTest) [./test/unit/task_test.rb:61]:
<"Michael Alvarez"> expected but was
<nil>.
--
Same failure, as seen via autotest:

Autorun Picks Up Options
Hi,
I was trying to use the autorun feature of rspec but noticed that when I
run the command to kick off the ruby scripts it picks up the options that I
give to the command.
''myRubyBin -j optionValue''
This then fails with this error,
/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1448:in `complete''
:
invalid option: -j
(
OptionParser::InvalidOption
)

Build a ruby gem and conditionally specify dependencies

Spec slowdown
Is there something currently going on on the rspec trunk that causes
a massive slowdown when running rake spec and autotest (without
spec_server)? I updated to the latest trunk yesterday and the time
needed to run the specs of my app jumped from ~20 seconds to more
than a minute. The weird thing is that if I run the rake spec tasks
separately (controllers, models, views, helpers), they

Ticket #274 patch for --drb in spec.opts
Hi All,
I submitted a patch last week to fix a bug with --drb not working if
it''s specified in spec.opts, this causes autotest to run obscenely
slowly out of the box on my machine.
Please let me know if you need anything else from me on this.
Cheers!

Autotest''ing specs on non-rails app
I''m having trouble using autotest with rspec on a non-rails project.
my Rspec gem is version 1.0.8, ZenTest is 3.6.2
project structure
$ ls *
lib:
parser.rb
spec:
parser_spec.rb
autotest finds and runs the spec, but it won''t detect changes to lib/parser.rb
I know it''s something stupid, but...
