SAMBA 4 Member Server - Help please
Hi all,
I'm quite stuck here at the moment. I have tried this multiple times to get built and can't seem to get it working properly. I have a test virtual server running as a domain controller with Samba 4.1.15 using (9.10.1) bind_dlz as the back end and all works properly. I have the server setup as domain controller and have added a user and I can look that user up with the samba-tool

So you are *now* adding their info via ADUC, that will be why winbind
didn't work for you.

SAMBA 4 Member Server - Help please
Hi all,
After being pointed towards the sssd service, I setup and configured it and it appears to be running just fine. I can lookup my users and groups properly now once I add their information in the UNIX tab section in AD.
Thank you all to help me get where I am now. I can now continue to work and set this up. I am sure I will have more questions moving forward, but this mailing list has

displaying the image within html page
Hi-
I have a list of objects and each of them has an image. (like an array
of person object, with name and picture as attributes)
I need to display the images on the html in the thumb format. I use the
following RMagic stuff to create the thumb image
<% file_name = "pictures/"
file_name << person.image_name
file_name <<

A simplistic parental-control setup
I am looking at the simplest (implementation-wise) solution to the following
problem (on CentOS 6.2):
I have a list of web addresses (like http://www.example.com, https://1.2.3.4/,
etc.) that should be "forbidden" to access from a particular host. On access
attempt, the browser should be redirected to a local web page (file on the hard
disk) with the explanation that those addresses

Samba AD with external DNS server
Hallo,
We have Samba4 (Sernet, Version4.1) on a Debian Wheezy server. There we try to
use our Infoblox (It is our primary and secondary DNS server) as an external DNS
server for the active directory on the samba4 server. It doesn?t matter which
setup option (Samba_internal, bind_dlz, none) we use it doesn?t work.

Naming Conventions
Hi all,
I have looked but cannot find if there is a way on a file share to control the naming convention of files.
I’d like if possible for a SAMBA file share to throw up an error if an end user tries to name any of their Word / Excel based files (or any files for that matter) with any of the following:
Tilde
Number sign
Percent
Ampersand
Asterisk
Braces
Backslash
Colon
Angle brackets

xen setup documentation for centos?
Hi,
what is the proposed way to create domU guests on centos 6.5? At first
I tried to follow the documentation on the xen project website which
recommends using xl. I created a config file and ended up with getting
a message that the kernel is not bootable when trying to create a guest.
I also had to stop some daemon (xend?) because it said that xl isn`t
compatible with it and the daemon must

Working Documentation Toolchain [GSoC]
Hi,
The basic toolchain is up and running. I encourage community to test

syslinux / antique computers
Hi,
is there an easy way to circumvent the SYSLINUX novice protection thing?
intended users don't know about CTRL key to circumvent it.
I'm trying to make a generic bootdisk for systems of 8086 - Pentium4.
however the bootdisk is slow, so I'd like to use Syslinux + Memdisk to load a diskette image.
then the text displayed to user will be:
1) FreeDOS bootdisk (accelerated, 386

Syslinux and USB support
Hi,
I'm writing as I'm an happy user of syslinux/isolinux(pxelinux, as it
has kade booting from floppy/hd/cd simple and reliable...
(I've looked the tons of workaround developers had to develop to
circumvent bugs BIOS bug in isolinux....)
I think that next frontier for syslinux should be USB booting: it
already works, but here also there are a lot of BIOS problem that a

[LLVMdev] noinline
Hi,
I was interested in telling the compiler not to inline a given function, and
discovered that the __attribute__((noinline)) implements this using a global
variable @llvm.noinline. It did not work for me initially. I noticed that @
llvm.noinline was being internalized by -internalize, dead-code-eliminated
by -constmerge, causing this information not to reach the -inline pass.
I am not sure if

application 'allway sync' evades sticky bit?!
Hi,
am running:
Redhat EL4.4 i386, Samba 3.0.23d from Sernet, ext3 fs
Samba as PDC
Someone's got the idea to have one big share with access managed by
directory's sticky bit.
This works perfectly well when normal XP or W2k clients work with their
explorer.
But: With 'allway sync', an app to synchronize for example between
laptop and fileserver the program is somehow able to

Samba 4.7 DC with BIND9_DLZ and MIT Kerberos fails at DNS Update
Hi Andreas,
thanks a lot for the explanation, sounds reasonable to me. ;)
But what would be the right way to test DNS updates in this scenario?
Best regards
