Problem getting Java Runtime Environment installed into OpenOffice
Hi, I'm having trouble getting my new install of OpenOffice 2.31 to find my newly installed Java Runtime Environment version jre1.6.0_04 (downloaded from Sun). I tried installing it via Tools>Options>Java (am using OpenOffice Calc to try to set it up). The options dialog box is finding the Free Software Foundation version 1.4.2, but it won't find the new JRE file. I tried

Java headaches
I lost my harddrive, and have had to reinstall. This time, I am being a bit smarter on imaging, but still got to get things installed... Installing Freemind. It needs Java JRE. So after lots of pain, and reading past messages, I got jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.rpm from sun and installed it. Then I tried to follow Jim Perrin's recommendation to install from jpackage.org the

Firefox 68 jnlp files
It seems that firefox 68.x, as distributed with CentOS6 updates, no longer allows opening jnlp files with javaws The "Choose Helper Application" window popping up after selecting "Open with/Other" has a predefined list of applications that cannot be customised. I'm sure it must be a configuration issue as this works fine with the same browser on other distributions, but

I am installing puppet enterprise manager (master) on a RHEL box. Can't get JRE to install so that FireFox sees it
Hot on the heels of the success of getting sound to work with FireFox, I am on to getting Java applets to run. When I go to a page with a Java applet, I get the little Rubik's cube- like icon that says I can click to download. So I do, but FireFox says it can't find it, so I have to install manually. I click on Manual install and I'm taken to a page that allows me to download the RPM

OpenChrome video driver for Centos
I can find xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.901-1 for EL5, but not the current xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.903-1 (which only goes from FC8 on). Since my OQOs have the CX700M2 chip and there are listed enhancements for this chip in the 903 version, I would really like to get it...

Firefox 68 jnlp files
Not knowing what kind of server management you're looking for I can only make general suggestions. We found that the removal of Java support (actually NSAPI in favor of the Pepper API which Oracle has stated they won't support) left us with limited IPMI (iLO, DRAC, whatever) functionality. And, looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Web_Start, Oracle has stopped supporting javaws.
