[patch] ipconfig add dhcp file preseeding support
From: Geert Stappers <stappers at debian.org> To make klibc-ipconfig transmit the DHCP vendor class "d-i" and get the DHCP preseeding filename in a text file, it needs the attached patch. belows patch allows ipconfig to be used in Debian installer once the hostname is sent too, see http://blog.andrew.net.au/2006/05/17#d-i_dhcp_hacking Signed-off-by: maximilian attems <maks at

[PATCH] Escape DHCP options written to /tmp/net-$DEVCICE.conf
DHCP options like domain-name or hostname are written to /tmp/net-$DEVICE.conf which is typically later used by other scripts to determine the network configuration. This is done by sourcing the /tmp/net-$DEVICE.conf file to get all defined variables. This patch escapes the DHCP options written to /tmp/net-$DEVICE.conf to prevent arbitrary code execution. Networking troubles on CentOS 7
Hi, I've been trying to get networking up and running on CentOS 7 in a VMWare (5.5) VM. From inside the machine (connected to console (GNOME desktop)) it looks like network is up. From outside I can't reach it. >From outside, same subnet: outside_machine$ ssh -vvvv root at 10.14.6.60 OpenSSH_5.3p1, OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013 debug1: Reading configuration data

behaviour of "virsh shutdown domainName"

DOMAINNAME\Username
Sorry Luke, You may have already answered this, but I have had a few minor setbacks the last couple of days and haven't received any mail over the last week. Can you explain who needs the DOMAINNAME\Username? As of when? And why this is needed? Also any side effects of doing this (I know it may cause a problem with the username length on some *cough* antiquated *cough* systems ;-). (Just

puppet and domainnames
Hello all, when I do a signature request to puppetmaster, if no domainname is configured then puppet gets it from /etc/resolv.conf. Even if the "search" line is commented. I had to delete the search line in resolv.conf to obtain a signature request with hostname only, and then it appears with a final dot (hostname.). Is it that puppet does not like being domainless ? Many of my

NIS/YP revelation (I think)
So I configured my Enterprise 5 server to have NFS configured on specific ports via the NFS Server menu option. Since having done that, I am unable to get my two CentOS 5 workstations to bind via YP. One worked just fine before the port reconfiguration, but broke after. The other never worked fine. NFS works fine on both, but NIS will no longer bind. What do I need to change on the client

Setting up a two-interface shorewalled system supporting local NIS/YP and NFS

The thing is that I want to try to use NIS/YP on the local machines and have fw run the ypserv. Furthermore, I''d like

[off-topic] RHEL6 and NIS/YP

Does NIS/yp work for authentication
If a host is running NIS (passwd file ends in +::0:0:::) authentication, will dovecot be able to authenticate with auth_userdb = passwd directly and automagically or do you have to do a ypcat passwd > pwfile periodically to generate a passwd file that dovecot can use? ? Is there any limitation in cn field length??
Hello: I'm using samba4.1.0pre1. I'm having some issues with users whose cn field length is shorter than 5 characters in specific with the openfire server (jabber server). It was working fine when I had a windows 2003 server as a domain controller and once I migrated to samba4, users with short cn fields get an authentication error: Not authorized. Is there any limitation on the length

CentOS 6 and NIS not working
I am having no luck getting NIS to work on a clean install of CentOS 6. It seems to be an issue with ypbind. I have simple /etc/yp.conf which explicitly sets the server domain myDomain server myServer The service seems to start okay #service ypbind start Starting NIS service: [OK] Binding NIS service: ? [OK] But when I try to use any of the yp services, like ypwhich #ypwhich ypwhich:

[PATCH] Seperate VMX domainname argument to 2 parts to enable qemu-dm
Image.py should send 2 new arguments to qemu-dm for setting QEMU window Title. 1 is const string "-domain-name", the other is the string of domain name. At present imagy.py combines these two strings to 1. So Qemu will fail to recognize it and fail to start.
