Forwarder all reverse zones that AD DNS not authoritative
hi folks, To forward everything that does not belong to AD (subdomain ad.domain.intra) to the domain "domain.intra" I configured an entry as show below in named.conf.local zone "domain.intra" IN { type forward; forward only; forwarders { 172.16.1.10; }; # ns1.domain.intra }; Within this network (172.16.1.0/24) I have dc1 (dc1.ad.domain.intra), dc2

DNS forwarders are not replicated
After a Samba AD controller joins the Windows domain, the DNS forwarders are not replicated. Is that because the FSMO roles are still with the Windows server and does that change as soon as I transfer these roles to the Samba AD server? Or do I have to manually record the DNS redirects either way on the Samba AD server?

Forward Samba DC DNS to Bind
I have a running Bind9 infrastructure and intend to have Samba its specialities, but leave the bulk to Bind. My idea is to configure a slave zone with Samba as master in my top level Bind. However, this would need Samba to allow-forward. Is there any way to configure the internal DNS like that? Or do I have to run a Bind instance on the samba machine for that purpose? Thanks for your help, -

Processing "BIND8-like" statistics
I wonder how to process the statistics logged by nsd. We compile with --enable-bind8-stats and I thought we would be able to reuse the Perl script that translated our BIND8 statistics to MRTG. But the script has problems, probably because nsd has several daemons, not just one, and each one is logging statistics. Aug 4 10:34:01 ns2 nsd[24573]: NSTATS 1059986041 1059979224 A=292259 NS=4886

DNS (bind_dlz) forwarding not working
Rowland, Seeing as BIND_DLZ uses the same info in AD as SAMBA_INTERNAL does, > then no, using the internal dns server will not make any difference. Ok. multiple dns forwarders
Hi, To make our AD more robust, I'd like to provide more than one dns forwarder, like for example: dns forwarder = 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 However, this seems to break dns resolution completely (and without logging errors in the logs!): # Host test.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN) With only one forwarder things work: $ test.com has address 208.64.121.161 Am I really allowed to specify only one

Samba4 Disable USB ports
Hello Gabriel, I recommend you use gpupdate /force on the windows command line after login. The results of above command can be checked afterwards with the "gpresults" command. Can be you have an permission problem on your samba server. Only skimmed ofver the thread but did you try samba-tools ntacl sysvolreset on your samba server? achim~ Am 22.05.2015 um 12:08 schrieb Gabriel

DNS (bind_dlz) forwarding not working
Hello, I provisioned an samba AD with the bind_dlz option. So far so good. Followed the samba wiki. I have a DNS for our external access services (website, moodle, etc) and I'm using it as a forwarder to AD but it is not working. In a win7 I configured the AD IP as primary DNS and put it in the domain. When I try to access, for example, "wiki.samba.org" it opens normally, but when

BIND9/DNS lookups stopped working after upgrading our Comcast modem/gateway
OK here's our setup, we're running pfSense as our firewall/router. We have a dual-WAN with a Comcast Business Gateway and another local ISP. We're running Samba 4.7.6 as the AD DC & Bind 9.9.4. Here's the issue, we just upgraded our Comcast service to a higher speed & they replaced the modem/gateway. Everything was working fine, before the modem swap. Once they did

Conditional forwarders
I've asked this question because it is the first step before domain approbation. Several questions in my message : 1) With Samba AD, can we via "Windows DNS Tools" set a conditional forwarders ? 2) If yes, is it possible with samba internal dns ? 3) If we can't use "Windows DNS Tools" do we have another method to do "conditional forwarder" ?
