Red X and guest user message in logs
Hello, I have a Debian Sarge machine running Samba 3.0.14a as PDC and file server. Everything runs smoothly, except for a random problem: users (on Win2000Pro clients) are often seeing a red cross on the main network share, as if it was disconnected. This red X seems to come and go at random. The red cross would not be a big issue itself, but it has an annoying consequence: when it appears,

Developed an issue with Samba File Server integrated with Samba-AD
Hi, We have been using Samba File Server (Version 4.3.11 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) for quite sometime now. We recently installed Samba-AD (Samba AD Version 4.7.6) and made the file server a member of the Domain. Everything was fine till around 11:15 am yesterday. We just added one more share folder and gave access to three users and restarted Samba File Server services - smbd, nmbd and winbindd -

sdc1 without the sdc
So I'm working with the iSCSI Initiator and an EqualLogic SAN. I'm not sure when this might have happened, but it appears that the /dev/sdc device is missing, yet the /dev/sdc1 partition exists AND is mountable. Is there a method to re-create the /dev/sdc device? I cannot dd or fdisk it, obviously, but I can mount the /dev/sdc1 partition and it works just fine. Not having the /dev/sdc

I installed a fresh copy of Debian 4.0 and Xen 3.1.0 SMP PAE from the binaries. I had a few issues getting fully virtualized guests up and running, but finally managed to figure everything out. Now I''m having a problem with paravirtualized guests and hoping that someone can help. My domU config: # # Configuration file for the Xen instance dev.umucaoki.org, created # by xen-tools

Big devices and missing space
Hello, I have a Promise EX 12-port RAID controller in my box, connected to 8 750GB disks. I have set up 2 RAID-5 devices and joined these using LVM. This is working fine. However, there is something that seems wrong.. (4-1) * 750 = 2250, but df reports the LVM volume as a mere 4.0T; /dev/mapper/storage_volume-stor 4.0T 3.6T 507G 88% /storage Shouldn't this be 4.5TB? ssd quandry
On a CentOS 6 64bit system, I added a couple prototype SAS SSDs on a HP P411 raid controller (I believe this is a rebranded LSI megaraid with HP firmware) and am trying to format them for best random IO performance with something like postgresql. so, I used the raid command tool to build a raid0 with 2 SAS SSDs # hpacucli ctrl slot=1 logicaldrive 3 show detail Smart Array P410 in Slot 1
