Disk space usage with mdbox
Hello, I am using dovecot with mdbox+sis and I notice an ever increasing disk space usage since I converted mailboxes from Maildir to mdboxes. I have checked with a user and while it actually uses only 65K, his mdbox files on disk are more than 6G. The backup of his mailbox is just 64K. Any suggestions ? Below are some relevant commands: [root at mail ~]# doveadm quota get -u test Quota

Shot in the dark here...haven't tried it myself so no promises. There's probably a much better way to do this but sometimes a little "brute force" helps. Theoretical steps: 1. Stop all mail processes - both SMTP and IMAP. 2. Use "doveadm sync" to backup the user mailbox, e.g., doveadm backup -u user mdbox:/tmp/usermail 3. Verify /tmp/usermail looks reasonable

Bug (?) while listing imap folder
Dear All, I think I've hit a bug after migrating our mail server to the newest version of dovecot (version 2.2.15). When I try to list all imap folders for one user the imap process crashes. The listing to a specific folder (ex. INBOX) works fine, only the "*" crashes. Client side: --------------------- [root at mb log]# telnet 127.0.0.1 143 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to

Disk space usage with mdbox
Daniel thank you for the advice, I have done this exact procedure to clean up some space and I reduced the used space by more than 60% (huge gain!). Yet it is still a mystery why this happened first place and more important if it will occur again, time will tell. I have kept one mailbox out of this procedure (the "live" size is 8,8G, the backup size is less than 1GB) to do some

Disk space usage with mdbox
Why things happen is one of the great mysteries and joys of being a sysadmin... As for cleaning up SIS, I believe the "doveadm purge" command takes care of it. I have a daily cronjob which includes: #!/bin/sh # Permanently expunge old Trash doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 2w # Optimize mdbox storage doveadm purge -A # Update fts indexes doveadm fts rescan -A -- Daniel

I'm new in this company and I don't know exactly the server, but every try I did without any authentication, failed... Any other idea? Thanks Luca Bertoncello (lucabert at

Active directory bind and quota stuff
Hi list, first of all, please excuse me for any grammar mistake on my text, I'm still learning english. I'm making a Dovecot installation using my Active Directory like pass and user DB. I'm setting the per-user quota from an AD field (Initials) and everything seems to work fine, but I would like to know if you could help me to improve a couple of things.

php script to migrate other attributes after running classicupgrade
Hi, I have written a php script to upgrade a fresh s4 AD with more details from a (s3) ldap server. I am no programmer AT ALL, so I guess this is very dirty and un-elegant, but it does the trick. We had multiple "mail" attributes in openldap, and since AD only allows 1 mail attribute, additional mail addresses are migrated to "otherMailbox" AD attributes. Perhaps someone

Dovecot deliver with AD LDAP userdb
Good Afternoon, I have my virtual users stored in an Active Directory database. As far as mail info goes the 2 important fields are: mail (their primary email address) and otherMailbox (a multivalue attribute containing their mail aliases). Right now all email addresses belong in the same domain and there are no immediate plans to change this. If I use Postfix to do the lookups and delivery only
