dovecot 1.2.5 Fatal: setgid(5000(vmail)) Operation not permitted
This is the error I'm getting (whenever i recieve and email):
*deliver() : Fatal: setgid(5000(vmail)) failed with euid=5000(vmail),
gid=8(mail), egid=8(mail): Operation not permitted (This binary should
probably be called with process group set to 5000(vmail) instead of 8(mail))

dovecot-lda delivery to Maildir/cur as 'seen'?
Hi
I've added a server-side feature where authenticated customers sending
through our SMTP server have their outbound mail copied to their Sent
folder (like Gmail does). The delivery script called by qmail calls
dovecot-lda to deliver it to the user's Sent folder.
The problem now, is that the Sent folder shows the mail as unread,
which MUAs flag (and notify, in the case of some).

POP3 only - why is cur/ growing?
Hi,
I use Sarge's dovecot for a pop3 mail collection server. IMAP is not
used at all. It works well, but I would like to know why one of the
accounts also keeps a copy of all e-mail copies in the cur/ folder?
Thanks a lot,
Wally

LDA directly to Maildir/cur
i'm tired of dealing with buggy clients so i'm moving more processing
into the server-side. i configured procmail as LDA with maildir-style
mailboxes. i would like to simulate an automatic "mark as read" feature
during procmail processing. simplest way looks to be forcing delivery
directly to Maildir/cur instead of Maildir/new, but i suspect this may
screw up dovecot. will

messages lingering in .Trash/new instead of .Trash/cur
We're running Dovecot rc15 on Solaris 9, providing IMAP access to e-mail
stored in Maildir++. I've noticed that a significant number of message
files are currently sitting in the directories ~/Maildir/.Trash/new/. I
would have expected that all messages in .Trash would be in the /cur
subdirectory (as most are), and I'm not sure how they're landing in /new.
If I connect to

Files Moving From /New to /Cur
Using Dovecot 1.2-9 with Maildir and layout=FS.
We have our own delivery pushing messages to the /new and then /cur folder
eventually. When I have an IMAP client attached, there is apparently some
sort of race going on. I believe that Dovecot is moving files from /new to
/cur (and renaming them) before our own delivery gets the job done.
This is causing a problem for us. Is there a way

Maildir files in cur without info
Hi,
I have tried to use the same Maildir dovecot uses with
another program and encountered the problem that Dovecot
seems to move files from new to cur in
maildir-sync.c::maildir_scan_dir without adding an info
part. On the page http://cr.yp.to/proto/maildir.html is
written that mails have to be renamed to uniq:info when
moved to the cur directory.
Could this be a bug in dovecot?

Are Mail files in /Maildir/cur & /Maildir/.Sent read-only ?
Hi ALL...
I want to know if the files in /Maildir/cur & /Maildir/.Sent are modified by dovecot.
I have a script which calculates the age of the mail files.
I think that if they are continuously modified by dovecot I won't be able to calculate the age of the files.
Can Anyone plz advise on this....
Thanks

cur folder e-mails are not shown...
Hi All!
I realized that I have only e-mails from last 13 days. I see that I have
lots more in the cur folder inside my Maildir folder.
The problem is that I cannot see them.
Permissions seems to be right:

avoiding getting maildir cur/ folder contents?
Hi,
On my server with many mails in one folder and slow IO, getting the mail
listing in the cur/ folder is becoming a serious bottleneck. Dovecot is
the only thing accessing the mail folders, so would there be any way to
avoid getting a listing all the time?

They're dovecot.index.log and dovecot-uidlist.

-rw------- 1 gsexton users 244 Feb 4 09:04 Maildir/cur/dovecot.index.log

any other directory that mail is delivered to (e.g.

Problem: mail moved by thunderbird script is invisible to mail clients, but in cur directory
Over the last year I've had a script moving old mail (120 days) into my
annual archive folder. This is the first year I've done this with Dovecot,
previously it was running against Cyrus.
There's nothing particularly clever: a few conditions to match, then "move
message to" the appropriate archive folder. There's one for every year
from 2000 to 2015. 2015 is just
