Dovecot cannot find mailboxes
Edgar, thank you for your help:
I have solved gaining access from a client (Evolution) via IMAP to the
server: I can refresh, add folders, and delete folders. But I am still
confounded, as IMAP does not see any mailboxes. Neither we from the
command line (telnet, openssl, login, select) nor the system can find
the mailbox, despite following FindMailLocation:
telnet, openssl, login, then

This is actually one of the first thing I tried when I saw outgoing mails worked. I also tried sending mails from another address, hoping to receive an error message back, but nothing got received.

Forwarded question about telnet and environment
Hi all,
I''ve forwarded the following question from Steve Tuckner. Any ideas?
From Steve -
"I found this open source telnet server that I modified for my own
purposes to run programs through telnet and display them in my own ruby
console. It works pretty well, but I don''t get my environment (I only
get the system environment). The call used to run processes is:

Quirks in telnet
I noticed a wierd quirk in telnet on redhat 5.2 that
seems to allow others to verify whether an account name exists
on a linux machine or not. If you telnet into a machine and
use an username that does not exist, you get four attempts
before the telnet session is closed. If the username exists
then you have three attempts before the session is closed.
I know that there are other ways to find

Can't even connect to my server via ping/http/telnet
Quite a strange error, and I am very interested to see if anyone can
figure this one out:
While trying to access my Samba 2.0.5/RedHat 6.0 server via PPP from Win98
on my laptop, I can't ping, http, or telnet there. No error messages,
just timeouts. All this works from my LAN, but not when I dial-up
somewhere (tried w/ mulitple ISPs). I know it's not a DNS issue, because
it works when

telnet connection refused
I'm running Dovecot 1.0 with Postfix and Amavisd-new on FreeBSD 2.6-RELEASE.
Mail was working OK until I put a new mailbox on but then it stopped.
Dovecot appears to be running but it doesn't show up in "Top" nor when I run
"ps -aucx". I also can't telnet to it on port 110 either at localhost or at
the mail server (Connection refused). Can telnet to port 25

Support not compiled in for passdb driver 'pam' + telnet localhost imap.
Hi!,
I Install dovecot version 2.1.16 on CentOS 6.4 x86_64.
When I try to test the installation (by telnet localhost imap) the
following error occurs: "auth: Fatal: Support not compiled in for passdb
driver 'pam'".
I do not discover what caused this.
Here I leave the configuration data and the log.
Thanks

Usage of a telnet client instead of ssh or rsh
Hi all,
i am building an authentification system based upon MIT kerberos.
I set up a realm in which I can use the ftp and telnet server/clients
infrastructure for the purpose of authentification. To backup my server
i would like to use rsync, but instead of a ssh/rsh/stunnel with an
encrypted kerberized telnet.
My problem is, that i could connect manually via telnet.krb5, but if
like to use it

Announce Openssh with telnet
Hi,
I would not consider it a real bug, or security problem, but I wonder, why my
sshd declares itself when I do a telnet on port 22:
telnet localhost 22
Trying ::1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_3.7.1p2
Would it not be better, not to show anything at all, so that someone just
trying, whats up on port 22 does not see what programm with witch

first line refresh problem in SecureCRT telnet session
Hi,
I have a problem with SecureCRT (6.2.2) telnet session.
The first line in the telnet session don't refreshing.
I tried 1.1.28-29 release but still have a same problem.
all lines are scrolling well, but the first is not. I tried to resize the screen and change settings but nothing happened.
Is it a bug or I forgot to set something?
