ACLs on Top level mailboxes.
Hello,
I?m in the process of migrating a mail server to new hardware. At the same time, I?ve made the decision to switch from courier to dovecot (v2.2.13) and from what I have seen so far I?m pretty happy.
I have two questions for the list.
I?d like my users mailboxes (Maildir format) to look like this:
Inbox

UserCreatedSubFolder2

SMP Proliants and Smart2 Array controllers. (Was: Proliant on a 6500)
I've included all posts till now.
Can I ask anyone with older proliant multi-cpu hardware using the smart2
controllers to get in touch with me? I am curious to know if this works for
anyone...

Proliant on a 6500
Sorry to reply to myself, but I wanted to expand this to -stable and add
some more info...
See the original post at the bottom of this msg.
I just took the Smart 2/P and put it in slot1 (one of the shared Eisa/PCI
slots.)
Now the Dmesg output shows the "SMP: AP CPU" lines in a different order...
They were:
SMP: AP CPU# 3 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 1 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 2 Launched!

maildirsize quota does not referred after migration from courier
Dear All,
We would like to migrate our existing courier to dovecot. After reading
document on website and doing some tests, here are some issues we met.
1. According the the wiki, it seems to imply that once migrating from
courier to dovecot, pop3 users may "lost/forget" their download "index/
history" which cause them to download again old mails that are kept on

Shared Mailboxes, Per User SEEN flag and Mailing lists
Hi!
Im making a small research about IMAP servers and it's features. As the
subject suggests, I want make a shared mailbox, with per user \seen flag
to work like a mailin-list works.
The reason to use 1 shared folder is simple: Imagine 12k users sending
1KB messages each week, it will be 12+ MB of useless information.
Many people told me that IMAP could do this, but now seem that it is a

Maildir quotas support in Dovecot and 2 other newbie questions
I am not familiar with all the features that Dovecot has, but I am
familiar with Courier IMAP using Maildir.
Does Dovedot have a software based Maildir supporting quota program like
Courier IMAP ?
Can maildrop be used with Dovecot for quotas ?
Courier IMAP has maildrop integrated.
- If maildrop support is turned on in Courier IMAP, then
a user will get a quota warning mail message

Problem building latest Courier-authlib on CentOS4
Upgrading to CentOS6 is on my list, but I'm trying to get the latest Courier-MTA running at the moment.
I downloaded the current courier tarballs and tried to build the rpms on a CentOS4 system. I got these errors:
$ rpmbuild -tb courier-authlib-0.64.0.tar.bz2
...
libtool: link: ar cru .libs/libauthpipe.a authpipe.o authpipelib.o

Courier keywords - anyone even tried?
I do realize from the Wiki that the formats are incompatible, and am
looking at the Courier spec
(http://www.courier-mta.org/imap/?README.imapkeywords.html) and the
Dovecot spec (http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir) trying to
see if there's any sane way I could try and write a shellscript.
The pain here is the Courier spec, I think I lost a few brain cells
trying to understand

UIDL conversion courier -> dovecot
I've got a weird split setup where POP3 is currently handled by Courier
(courier-imap-3.0.2 distribution), and IMAP is currently handled by the
RHEL 5 version of Dovecot (1.0.7)
I'm trying to figure out a way to convert the POP3 UIDLs (in cases where
the courierpop3dsizelist is newer than dovecot-uidlist, at least) to
something that Dovecot will read, or to configure Dovecot's pop3 to

[Fwd: Re: Bug in BODYSTRUCTURE]
Fyi...
Sam Varshavik (courier-imap developer) claims (on the courier-imap list,
see attached) dovecot is incorrectly parsing messages with
missing/invalid "MIME-Version:" header...
I have no clue if he is correct... if so, maybe this has already been fixed?

Newbie why is dovecot classified diff then sendmail or courier
Hello, this is probably a dumb question, but I can't for the life of me
figure out why sendmail and courier are classified universally as
network-mail-mta whereas dovecot is in places like network-mail-general
or some such place. I've used several Linux distros and have noted this
keenly (they also normally classify photorec, the HD recovery tool as
hardware-photography,so this may just be

courier mail for Centos
Are there existing rpms for courier mta?
I am working from:
http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-users-and-domains-with-postfix-courier-mysql-and-squirrelmail-fedora-14-x86_64
And am making progress with postfix and mysql, but looking ahead to
other steps. I see squirrelmail is in EPEL.

. (dot) in maildir folder names
Hi.
Uhm... yeah as the topic implies I want to have . (dots) in my folder
names...
Unfortunately dovecot's maildirmake hasn't a -f switch as the one from
courier/maildrop, but that one in turn is buggy[0] and doesn't encode
any characters at all.
In principle, maildir++ should allow[1] having (encoded) dots in folder
names,... but I don't quite understand how the encoding

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota
implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of
messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes.
So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of

quota: ignore deleted messages (?)
Hi!
I am currently in the process of preparing a migration of our old
Courier-based IMAP/POP server setup to a Dovecot-based one.
During this process I came across the following problem with the
difference Courier and Dovecot handle deleted messages and mail quota.
Quote from http://www.courier-mta.org/imap/README.maildirquota.html:

Dovecot first impressions
Hi,
I have only recently become aware of Dovecot and gave it a try. The
previous 0.99.9.1 version didn't work well for me (OpenSSL), I dropped
it, but 0.99.10 has come just in time (saw it on freshmeat) and I
thought I'd give it another try if it promised SSL fixes, and it's sorta
working for me (i. e. it works with mutt, Mozilla, sylpheed, but not
cone -- but cone is beta and has SSL

/ and . in folder names
Right now, trying to create folders with "/" or "." in their name can yield
strange results, because Dovecot simply turns every occurrence of the current
folder hierarchy separator in a folder name given by the client into a "."
(or so it seems). If the folder separator isn't ".", clients can try to
create folders with names containing ".",

Outbound traffic spike every 30 minutes
Since Sunday morning, one of my CentOS servers has been generating a
small spike of outbound traffic every 30 minutes (X:00 and X:30). It's
not enough traffic to really cause any notice except for the fact that
it is a very regular pattern and it started abruptly at midnight Sunday.
This server is used for mail (Courier-MTA), and DNS (Bind). I cannot
find anything unusual in either of
