Hint for Wine + Type1 + FrameMaker / Update for the Font HOWTO
Hi Avi,
Having spend endless hours looking for how to make Wine and Type1 fonts
working together. I finally decided to convert my Type1 fonts to Truetype
(after a hint by someone that Wine does not have Type1/Adobe support).
Note: I'm not sure if this is true since there is a wine [afmdirs] section
in the wine config. Wine still had troubles with (at least) some of the
files.

type1 fonts problem
I can't make available type1 fonts (*.pfm and *.pfb archives)
in apps running in wine. The fonts are displayed ok by the natives
linux apps in linux, but not readable into apps in wine, only ttf are
readable
I treated to install type1 font in the fake windows folder, like a ttf
font (copy the type1 files in the .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts) but
not work
the provisional solution is convert

Compiling R-devel under Windows
Hello there,
I have a habit of compiling R-patched and R-devel every few days.
Recently, I noticed the following problem:
I downloaded both versions with Revision: 40421, Last Changed Date:
2007-01-09. R-patched compiles with no problem. R-devel compiles fine but
when it starts to make PDF documentation it generates the following (tail
of the "make distribution" output):

logistic regression
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this turns out to be more a statistical question than one
specifically about R - but would greatly appreciate your advice anyway.
I've been using a logistic regression model to look at the relationship
between a binary outcome (say, the odds of picking n white balls from a bag
containing m balls in total) and a variety of other binary parameters:

str and class
In previous versions of the gnm package, the terms component of "gnm"
objects had a "classID" attribute. This caused problems when used with
str as the following simple example illustrates:
> x <- 1
> attr(x, "classID") <- "type1"
> str(x)
Class 'type1' Class 'type1' Class 'type1' Class 'type1' Class

Type1 Fonts
I've narrowed the my Cups printing problem down to Wine not loading my
Type 1 fonts.
I have several Type 1 fonts installed in 3 places, all of which are in
my fontpath ("xset q" lists them). I can use the Type 1 fonts in X and
with KDE-2.2.1 even as AntiAliased, however, when I try to print from an
app under wine I get a memory error and a message at the command line

[ANNOUNCE] font releases, part 1
Hi all,
As promised, here's a first batch of font releases, hopefully in time
for the upcoming katamari. For now, I've only tackled "adobe-*" fonts,
the rest will come later once I get round to it.
The major changes for these fives releases are
- CVS tags purges by Jesse Adkins
- font-util macro bump to 1.2 by Ga?tan Nadon

[LLVMdev] Clang devirtualization proposal
Ok, replying anew now that I understand why reasoning about abstract
locations for each object doesn't work.
The general idea of describing a set of load and stores which belong to
a particular invariant group seems reasonable. I've got some
questions/comments on the specifics, but the overall direction seems
entirely workable for the specific problem you're trying to solve.

Problems with fonts on linux using GDD
Hi
Apologies for this question.
I have read the help for GDD and font mapping, and it tells me that the
config file, /usr/lib/R/library/GDD/fonts/basefont.mapping is
responsible for mapping fonts to the GDD library.
However:

I'm having trouble reproducing this one. In my fresh CentOS 7 VM, I can
pull the pkgKitten source down, and run R CMD Rd2pdf
