Top shows brtfs-cache-1 and brtfs-endio-met while the hard drives seem busy
Hi, I have setup about a year ago a BTRFS RAID 1 filesystem on two 2TB Western Digital WD20EARS hard drives and I have created subvolumes that I mount regularly as I need them. I put mostly music, videos and various files on them as well as some Git bare repositories for my work files but for the last couple of weeks, there seems to be some activity happening on the drives for a few minutes and

brtfs on Solaris? (Re: [osol-discuss] [indiana-discuss] So when are we gonna fork this sucker?)
brtfs could be supported on Opensolaris, too. IMO it could even complement ZFS and spawn some concurrent development between both. ZFS is too high end and works very poorly with less than 2GB while brtfs reportedly works well with 128MB on ARM. Netapp like snapshots using Centos 5/6 direct attached storage
Hello, I'm researching the best method of providing about 20 users in a production environment the same functionality as they would have on a Netapp NFS share. The O/S I will be using is CentOS 5 or 6 (max flex on which one) and the hardware is a disk array directly (12 SAS disks 7TB un-configured brand new) attached to a HP 580 G 7. I've done some reading on ZFS on Linux ,fuse-ZFS,

apcupsd-3.14.14
Hello, Looking for a apcupsd 3.14.14 rpm. Been getting communication lost errors. I read there was a problem with the 3.14.12 version regarding a usb connection which I'm using, but has been corrected in 3.14.14. I found a Fedora 25 Rawhide src version, but the link must be bad. Was hoping I could rebuild it for Cento 6. Looks like apcupsd no longer producing the rpms. I could build one

BTRFS Duplicated UUID on /home
I have 4 partitions on my hard drive 1 = /boot on ext2 2 = Swap 3 = / on brtfs 4 = /home on btrfs The uuid on partition 3 on my last boot was cloned to partition 4, so when I try to mount either 3 or 4 they both mount the / partition. We tried 7182011 git, and the current version in the ARCH 1062010, and neither had an option for resetting the UUID that we could find.  Both partitions were

Are there any news on zfs snapshots support?
Yes. It is in the review phase . Actually Sriram implemented zfs snapshot and Mark implemented the brtfs and Mark merged these two patches [1]. Adding them in cc . Reviews are most welcome. mount time of multi-disk arrays
Hello List, can anyone tell me how much time is acceptable and assumable for a multi-disk btrfs array with classical hard disk drives to mount? I'm having a bit of trouble with my current systemd setup, because it couldn't mount my btrfs raid anymore after adding the 5th drive. With the 4 drive setup it failed to mount once in a few times. Now it fails everytime because the default

Constant disk activity
Hi there, I have an old server (home use now), and i just did a fresh install of 5.8 on it. But the disk is constantly noisy. When running iotop, there is nothing blaring out at me. Panic while running defrag
I ran into a panic while running find -xdev | xargs brtfs fi defrag ''{}''. I don''t remember the exact command because the history was not saved. I also started and stopped it a few times however. The kernel logs were on a different filesystem. Here is the kern.log:http://fpaste.org/9383/36729191/ My setup is two 2TB hard drives in raid 1. They are both sata drives so

btrfs crash (and softlockup btrfs-endio-wri)
I am using NFS over brtfs (vanilla 3.8.5) for heavy CoW to clone virtual disks with sizes 20-50GB. It worked OK for a couple of days, but yesterday it crashed. Reboot fixed the problem and I do not see any data corruption. I have a couple of different kdumps, I will include one as text and attach the other ones. I am using Fedora 18 with vanilla 3.8.5. The filesystem is created over a SAN volume

Centos 7 and btrfs
I am setting up a new test server. Doing a fresh install from CD onto a couple 4TB drives. Would like to try btrfs in a RAID 1 format. Are there any how to's on how to do that?

Fw: Btrfs Samba and Quotas
Hello, >Is btrfs becoming more common ? In my impression: Yes. Also, this problem seems to affect also zfs and thus all (?) file systems that support checksums and scrubbing in linux; consequently all filesystems that are the choice of users who need this for ensuring data consistency. >You posted this: > >I am using Openmediavault (debian based NAS distribution), which is not
