Hello listmates, xsane on Ubuntu 10 finds that Canon PIXMA via the web and seems to be able to make use of it without a glitch. However, Centos machines sitting on the same net fail to find it. I've got a Brother HL-L2360D series printer connected to Centos 7. CUPS lists it as Generic PCL6/PCL Printer - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9 . When I tell it to print a pdf file, it prints at most the first page. After powering the thing off and turning it on again, it printed page 3 of pages 3-6 . On trying it again, the thing claimed it was receiving data and printed page 3 of pages 3-6 again.

Hello, I have problems setting up a canon multifunction ir7200. When I print the windows test page, I have something like "smiley" "arrow" "arow" "smiley" "arrow" name_of_the_samba_spool "smileys" driver.dll etc,etc,etc, on a single line. I've used Brothers printer driver installer tool to install drivers on C7 for a DCP7650DN. Cups thinks printing is working fine, but nothing ever arrives at the printer: the printer remains asleep. Looking at some of the setup instructions for the brother driver, it looks as if it wants a symbolic link of /etc/init.d/cups to /etc/init.d/lpd. neither of those exists in a systemd system, so

We currently have a Brother MFC-5490CN. Printer firmware is dated June 1010. (yeah, 10 years old). Few years ago the brother software wouldn't work for printing under Fedora. No problem, can print under Windows 10. Then it stopped scanning. Could still print...under Windows.
