[1/1] [gfxboot] align buffer used to read data from disk to a 512 byte boundary
The COM API provides a function to read from disk (int 22h, AX=07h) which needs a destination buffer aligned on a 512 byte boundary. gfxboot uses this function but doesn't ensure its data buffer is properly aligned. This leads to failures on a few machines (HP Pavillion dv5): gfxboot: isolinux: Disk error 09, AX = 424F, drive FE https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=48814 has a bit more

Wiki page request for HP Pavilion DV7-2250ED laptop
Hello, I'd like to add a wiki page for the HP Pavillion DV7-2250ED laptop. The proposed position would be http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/HP/Pavilion-DV7-2250ed I'd like to add the steps needed to install, and what's needed to get wireless working (and anything else that pops up after that). Re: iso 2.00 isolinux: Checksum error, sorry... workaround
Hi, I have a HP pavillion laptop zt1170 and I faced the same problem reported by, Greg Lonnon greg at lonnon.org 01 Jan 2003 11:08:20 -0700 This seems to be some problem with the HP bios. Since this laptop does not have a floppy drive it is almost impossible to install redhat 8.0. I managed to workaround this problem by doing a minimal installation of 7.2 and then copying the vmlinuz from

Trouble with WOW "Trouble finding sutible display device".
The launcher downloads fine but when I push "Play" I get this error message. I am have not updated the drivers on my laptop because I have no idea how. Also, I installed "wine-1.2.2-i486.pet" which was probably the wrong move but it was a pain to find a .pet for wine 1.2.2. Yes, I know that downloading WOW on a Puppy linux box is a little silly but I am also having trouble

OT: AMD CPU actual speed....
I know this is a bit OT, but the subject of CPU speed came up here and I was (and have been for some time) curious: What is the actual speed of an AMD CPU? E.g., I have a Athlon 64 X2 "4200+" but my /proc/cpuinfo shows 1005.164 MHz for the two cores. What do those mean? Is there a reference for this (huge) discrepancy? Also, is there a way (and what) to tell what the actuall running

Problem installing 6.3 on HP8540w laptop
Folks Just for laughs, I tried installing Centos 6.3 on the laptop HP 8540w. Windows 7 installed earlier, but I had to import a driver for the Ethernet controller since it was not supported on the distribution DVD of Windows7. The Centos installation I chose was the "NetInstall". The installation process identified eth0, I selected IPV4 DHCP, disabled IPV6, and successfully

CentOS 6.4 x86_64 VM Install freezes
I am trying to install a CentOS 6.4 x86_64 VM using a CentOS 5.9 x86_64 host, but its install has froze *twice*. What I am doing is to create a 10gig LVM volume, which I put a MS-DOS partition table on (using fdisk). I then format the only partition to ext3, install grub and install the pxeboot kernel and initrd.img and a simple grub.conf to load this. I have the CentOS 6.4 x86_64 ISOs mounted

Netinstall wants to use wlan0
Hi, Folks -- I'm setting up an Acer Aspire 5250 as a Christmas gift, CentOS 6 netinstall insists on trying to configure wlan0 but I'm using a wired DSL connection, consequently netinstall fails and only offers the option to Retry. How can I get it to bypass the wlan0 idea and go straight to eth0...? Thanks, -- -- Jeff -- <http://www.wellnow.com> "There's nothing

Intel NUC? Any experience
Folks The price point of Intel's NUC unit makes it attractive to use as a server that doesn't have significant computational load. In my environment, a USB connected hard-drive could provide all the storage needed. I wonder if anyone has had experience with it, and can answer: 1) Does Centos6 and/or Centos7 install from a USB connected optical drive? or a USB flash drive? I'd

"installation source" specification for netinstall
Trying to specify the "installation source" in the configuration of netinstall for centos 7 (7.1). Three places on the web said mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/ But that configuration page probes, then it says, "Error setting up base repository". What's the magic needed? Also, if anyone knows specs for epel and others, they might help too. Thanks.
