Apache wakes-up inactive Exim
Had a surprising event on C 6.5. Exim was the only MTA installed. It was partially configured (with ACL, Router, Transport) and definitely not running. I was remotely testing a web page. A web page error condition invoked the embedded PHP mail() command. To my astonishment something in Centos woke-up Exim. Exim sent the email and then became inactive again. The Exim logs does not show any

bnlearn: how to compute boot strength with mmhc and a blacklist
Dear R-help list: I have two related questions regarding the functions boot.strength and custom.strength in bnlearn. 1) I am using the following commands (on a set of continuous data, the example here run on fake data): > myblacklist<-data.frame(from=c("x1", "x1", "x1", "x2", "x2", "x2")) , to=c("x2",

Install pauses at "Determining hostname and domain"
For some reason, CentOS 4.1 waits approximately 3-5 min at the "Determining host name and domain" during kickstart. RedHat 7.1, RedHat 9.0, RedHat Enterprise 3.0, and even CentOS 4.0 do not have this problem using the same kickstart server (my kickstart server is configured to kick all of them). Does anyone know why CentOS 4.1 is particularly slow at this stage of kickstart? Thanks

Exim installation on CentOS
Could someone please share some thoughts on how to set up the /etc/hosts and /etc/aliases? This is tough to set up due to the poorly written manual.

company exchange server & exim best practices.
Hi all, I hope this isn't too OT, but since I use a CentOS5.2 + Exim mail server (which is hosted in one of our data centres) I don't think it should be. On of our clients use an MS Exchange 2003 SBS server, with exchange for their internal email. We provide them with a domain, ADSL (which uses dynamic DNS) and POP3 email. They don't have an spam filter program on the exchange server

Exim still accepting emails to nonexistent users
Hi Heiko, Sorry for using your private email address. :/ I managed to get this working using local_user changes by adding ldap user verification there: local_user: debug_print = "R: local_user LDAP lookup for $local_part@$domain" driver = accept domains = +local_domains condition = CHECK_VIRTUAL_USER transport = dovecot_lmtp cannot_route_message = Unknown user Where

Exim VS Postfix (no flame wars please)
Can anyone, who has used both Postfix & Exim please share some experience with me? Which of these 2 did you prefer to use, and why? cPanel uses Exim (and AFAIK, only Exim), VirtualMin seems to use Postfix by default and often times when a custom server is installed a client doesn't know which to use so we recommend Exim. But, what are the differences between these 2, from your experience,

FW: samba as a domain member
whoops, forgot to copy the list on it. sorry. Well, an update. I can log in to the console using any domain profiles, but, I can not access the exposed home directory through NetBeui (My Network Places/Network Neighborhood). Also, how should I configure /etc/pam.d/sshd to allow domain users to authenticate and logon through an ssh client (PuTTY?, OpenSSH?) -----Original Message----- From:

exim rpm with DKIM support for CentOS?
I haven't learned a lot about DKIM yet, but I guess I'll need to implement it in the near future, at first for signing outgoing mail. I'm using exim as an MTA. I guess the standard exim 4.63 binary rpm from CentOS repos propably does not have DKIM support yet? Or does it, maybe? Provided the standard binary rpm does not provide this functionality, what would be the most decent

Change hostname of the main domain controller of the Active Directory
Hi, With Samba4 and Active Directory the hostname of the server is read during provision, to set the netbios name. It's even asked to set /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts in respect with the chosen domain/realm names. I've seen that on real windows AD that it's possible to change the hostname of the domain controller with netdom command, but is there a way to do so on Samba4 ? The

But it can be found via DNS, why changing local (for this server) hostname affects this?

macaddress blacklist problem
I helped set up a firewall at my brother''s church and we are running shorewall 1.4.6b on a redhat 9 box. Works well. [root@fumcbafw shorewall]# uname -r 2.4.20-19.9 [root@fumcbafw shorewall]# iptables --version iptables v1.2.7a The box also serves as a dhcp server for the church offices and there is one box that apparently still has the old firewall config (zone alarm) on it since it
