Freemind 0.8 problems on Centos 5
I just installed my rpms I bulit and scarfted for Freemind 0.8 on Centos 4.x on my Centos 5.0 system. I referenced all the proper 5.0 repos. But.... No keyboard control (oh, Freemind is a platform independent Java applet). That is <Enter>, <Insert>, <vntrl-S>, etc do NOTHING. The long node format does not display. I can edit the node, and see the edit dialog, but the

Installing Java 1.4.2
For scalix on Centos the Scalix forum provides instructions for convincing Scalix that Centos is Redhat: http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=516&highlight=centos I am up to the point of getting Java JDK1.4.2 installed. JGR/Deducer Installation
Hi, Sorry if this is to wrong mailing list. In that case, please point me to correct mailing list. Please also excuse rather long mail - I am not sure what piece of information would be useful for anybody who could help me. Couple of days back I had put a query about box-plots using GUI. I got some excellent suggestions. One of them was to use JGR/Deducer. It worked quite well for my needs.

Building Xen Linux on SuSE 9.3
After many unsuccessful attempts at getting Xen 3.0 to run with any level of stability, I''ve decided to return to Xen 2. I''m currently trying to build the kernel under SuSE 9.3 and getting the following error messages: LD init/built-in.o LD .tmp_vmlinux1 arch/xen/kernel/built-in.o(.text+0x85b): In function `ctrl_if_suspend'': : undefined reference to

Testing / Coding methodologies?
I''ve been having great "fun" testing the new (Puppetised) build end-to-end for several days now. The majority of the fun has been coming from vendor packages (no names mentioned), typically with conflicting permissions on files, or perhaps different home directories, UIDs for the app users so it matters in which order you do things in. My current methodology is to go through

Setting up Tomcat as a service under CentOS 4?
I've found about a dozen different ways to skin this cat (no pun intended). Everything from creating a script in /etc/init.d/ to using jsvc. I was hoping someone out there, those of you out there who run Tomcat in this manner, how did *you* set this up? I can't seem to get it right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or even direction to an authoritative document. Preston

Java headaches
I lost my harddrive, and have had to reinstall. This time, I am being a bit smarter on imaging, but still got to get things installed... Installing Freemind. It needs Java JRE. So after lots of pain, and reading past messages, I got jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.rpm from sun and installed it. Then I tried to follow Jim Perrin's recommendation to install from jpackage.org the

Getting JRE working in Firefox
I have installed both: jdk-6u5-linux-i586-rpm.bin jre-6u5-linux-i586-rpm.bin But no Java plugin in Firefox. I go to: http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml And yes, Java is enabled but still get the dreaded 'download plugin'. I seem to recall some magic linking needed, but my docs are in Freemind that I can't get installed either.....

Installing Java on Centos
Hello, I have recently tried installing Java on Centos 6.4 and have found that the wiki tutorial for this subject is quite outdated (the proposed method doesn't work on the new version as the spec file is outdated and there is no need to rebuild the rpm with nosrc file anymore). I would like to post a tutorial on installing Java on Centos that would be more up-to-date and referring to the

Rails too Active?
I feel the need to protest about a disturbing trend in the vibrant RoR community - name dilution. ActiveRecord is called that precisely because it is that. The name come from Martin Fowler, and it expresses a class which is a database record, only _active_ - that is with methods & behaviors (unlike a classical database record, which is completely passive.) If you look in the

Does anyone have experience on installing the Oracle instantclient and DBD::Oracle on CentOS 4.4. I have been having several issues with getting the RPMs from Oracle's site working with DBD::Oracle. I can get the oracle instant client to install without issue. But I cannot compile/install DBD::Oracle using cpan or cpan2rpm. I found http://freshrpms.net/docs/oracle/ which has a nosrc rpm
