xen 3.1/ RHEL5 vs. ethtool
I have the xensource 3.1.0 x86_64 tarball installed over a RHEL5 clone distribution. The "ethtool" utility only returns the following information: [root@fermigrid5 etc]# ethtool eth0 Settings for eth0: Link detected: yes [root@fermigrid5 etc]# Since I have no vanilla-installed rhel5 machines with which to compare, I am not sure if I am dealing with a bug in the ethtool (whose

Bonding Eth interfaces - unexpeceted results
CentOS 6.2......... Why do the physical interfaces report (correctly) that they're negotiated at 1000Mb/s, but when I `cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0` I get 100Mbps for the member interfaces, and when I ` mii-tool bond0` I get 10Mbps for the bond? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ethtool em1 Settings for em1: Supported ports: [

vm pxe fail
Hallo I have a kvm vm that I am attempting to boot from pxe. The dhcp works perfectly and I can see the VM in the pxe server arp. but the tftp just times out. I don't see any tftp traffic on either the physical host or on the pie server. I am using a bridged interface. I have tried using several virtual nic drivers, several different mac addresses and several different ips. on the physical

hosts fail to negotiate 1000Mbps speed
I am trying to connect two workstations (CentOS 3&4) directly using a straight through cat 5e cable with a crossover adapter on one of the ends. Both hosts have gigabit-capable ethernet card. According to lspci host 1 has: 03:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82545EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 01) and host 2 has: 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group

XCP 1.0 beta Realtek 8168 nic not working
I''m trying to build out a test cloud using XCP 1.0.0 beta with 3 machines of 18 cores total (Phenom II 1090s). I''ve built three machines, installed XCP 1.0.0 beta on them and they all three have the same problem - the Realtek network cards don''t work. The following is the output from lspci 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI

How can I change the speed of tun interface?
Hi, experts I found the tun0 is 10Mb/s and I installed vnstat to monitor the tinc vpn traffic statistic, but due to 10Mb/s, the vnstat couldn’t update it’s database due to low speed rate, so anyway to change the tun from10Mb/s to higher? [root at box1 ~]# vnstat -u Info: Traffic rate for "myvpn" higher than set maximum 10 Mbit (248->341, r735 t38), syncing. [root at box1 ~]#

Slow performance to samba server with OSX client
Dear List, I'm hoping there is someone that might give me some pointers to solving the following problem. I run Mac OSX Tiger and perform a filecopy using Finder to a samba share on a Gentoo Linux machine running samba version 3.0.14a. Copying a 1GB file to the fileserver takes roughly 2 hours (33,9 MB in 4 min). This means 142 kb/s over a Gigabit network. Now here is the strange thing: When

Thread moderation and list etiquette (Reference - Another Fedora Decision)
Hi, The thread titled "Another Fedora Decision" is rapidly turning into a political and opinion driven flame fest that is unsuited for the CentOS mailing list. This list should try and remain focused on CentOS, what we have and keep the area sane for new users as well as old hands to participate in a fair and thoughtful conversation around the CentOS Linux platform and the CentOS

Network issue - Windows works but CentOS does not
I am having an extremely strange issue with a BL460c1 (G1) blade on a c7000 enclosure. I could not for the life of me get the machine to ping the gateway or any other blade on the same enclosure (yes, the subnet mask was correct & quadruple-checked); although pinging to the local IP works. I was almost convinced that it was a network or hardware issue; until I asked someone to try

Samba running slow
Hello everyone: Over the past few years I have been a happy samba user, running samba on Redhat / FC platforms. Recently I upgraded hardware, and Samba hasn't been performing well at all.. which makes me sad :-( The new hardware is Asus P5B board with a dual-core intel processor. This board has an onboard Realtek RTL8111/8168B gigabit ethernet controller, which was a hassle to setup.

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron bridged networking xen connectivity loss
Last problem I had involved changing one character in my configuration scripts. Really easy once someone showed me what was wrong. Well I think this issue is just the same. The moment I used apt to install the Xen kernal and tools I lost internet connectivity. I have been managing because I can restore connectivity be deleting the bridge mpower@dodtsair:~$ sudo ifdown eth0
