setting up postfix
This should be an easy one. I'm trying to get postfix going. I've
never done this before. I followed the directions at
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix. I opened port 25:
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT
Here's an attempt to send mail:
[motor at localhost motor]# mail -v larry.martell at gmail.com
Subject: test

Samba AD not resolving external names
I have just set up a new AD and am having a little success with it, but DNS
resolution is a little slow.
I'm looking into why that is and tried an ns lookup for google.com and got
the answer SERVFAIL on my AD server.
The query was then passed to my next nameserver (google's own dns), which
handled the query.
Is this correct behaviour? I've not seen SERVFAIL before

converting old uucp buffer files to maildir
Hi *,
besides my dovecot maildir structure, that has been migrated from an
Exchange server, I have an even older mail structure in an ancient uucp
style. The program named CrossPoint I used for this isn't wideley known,
but it used so called mpuffer files in a plain text format.
It is the program I still use to write for example this mail.
I wonder if there already exists a program or script

New IPv6 Example / Routing not clear to me
Hi Michael,
when I was looking for information on tinc in combination with IPv6, I
also found your new tutorial at that time (earlier this month).
Somehow a couple of things are less clear to me in the newer tutorial
(maybe the nice network topology image is missing).
OK, you added the unique local addresses to the setup. But I dont't
get it how the routing is done in your setup.

I am 'trying' to set SMART_HOST in sendmail to point to smtp-relay.gmail.com
but when looking at the /var/log/maillog its going to mx203.inbound-mx.net.

I did make in /etc/mail and service sendmail restart

CentOS 6 spontaneous reboots
Hello everyone -
My CentOS 6.8 server has been rebooting itself every 2 to 4 hours for the last
several days. I do not know where to look for logs that might give a clue what
the problem is. There are no unusual entries in /var/log/messages. I looked
over other log files in /var/log and found nothing suggestive. Where else can I
look?
By luck I saw the beginning of a reboot on the server

retr errors
My ISP uses Dovecot and I have had an ongoing problem
for a while using several email clients.
Sometimes the response to a retr request is mal-formed. The expected
response
"+OK nnn octets" is not returned. The response looks like it
started somewhere in the message headers.
Sometimes a retry can clear the
problem but I usually need to delete the first message via a putty session.

G Suite migration using dsync
Hello,
I am trying to migrate a domain from G Suite using dsync and am not
clear on how to configure so I am getting failures.
This is the configuration in dovecot.conf:

imapc_port = 993

imapc_ssl = imaps
imapc_ssl_verify = yes

I also tried with imapc_ssl_verify commented.
For simplicity, both the username and

Samba DNS fails when queried with nslookup commands
Hai,
Only the forwarder is running in this systemd setup.
This : 127.0.0.53:53 does NOT conflict with normaly resolv.conf setting
Because samba or any dns server does not run on 127.0.0.53
Dont make the mistake to see this for : 127.0.0.1
Please show :
/etc/hosts
/etc/resolv.conf
Depending on which one your using:
/etc/network/interfaces and/or
/etc/netplan/01-netcfg.yaml
