Audio weirdness on CentOS 6.2 with flash?
Hi List, I have an ASUS G73S laptop with our favorite OS installed and all up-to-date. Sound has always "just worked" When I use the Preferences>Sound app I can setup the hardware, input, output and was overall very impressed. One can check each speaker and the laptop has a front left and right and also has a bass speaker which seems to be connected to the left rear. The various

Wine and ALSA
I am having trouble getting wine to work with my sound. When I use winecfg it can not autodetect the right settings, and it only opens a control device, no output device: Code: hammertime boxfire # lsof /dev/snd/* COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME winecfg.e 9086 boxfire 10u CHR 116,32 5684 /dev/snd/controlC1 explorer. 9108 boxfire 10u CHR 116,32 5684

Strange console call problem
Hi, When I dial from my sip device to the extension 1234 which is linked to the ALSA console driver the call fails with the message "No channel type registered for 'ALSA'" (see below). I would like to have the console autoanswer for paging. However when I call from the console to the sip device the call completes fine. I alias alsa device hw:1,0 to card1 in /etc/asound.conf

Audio fails on centos 5.5 sony laptop - snd-hda-intel
Hi List, been chasing my tail for the last two hours and getting nowhere on my wifes laptop. I only do updates monthly on her machine, as it is safely behind firewalls and only does email and browser stuff. I have never had audio problems on this laptop, Centos just worked from day one - even the wireless. It appears that the 5.5 kernels and related audio driver snd-hda-intel do not function.

Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Please find below some details. Code:

Mic Plugged into sound card not working
Hey guys, I have a mic plugged into my sound card. It worked late last night but not today. When I try to select the mic using System/Preferences/Sound I'm provided with several options to choose from. On the Hardware tab I choose the Internal Audio device and set it to Analog Stereo Duplex. On the Input tab I choose Internal Audio Analog Stereo there are two Analog Microphone Inputs,

suspend to ram does not work with Geforce 310M (NVA8)
Hello. Minimal testcase for my problem: No X running, just a TTY. Use of the nouveau kernel module as of today (or any older) with an up to date vanilla kernel. Hardware: DELL Vostro 3500 with Geforce 310M. To suspend to ram I use this script, as suggested in Documentation/power/s2ram.txt: #!/bin/sh sync echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace echo mem > /sys/power/state When I try to suspend to

Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
Hi, I can’t seem to find a solution for my last VM issue. I have distorted sound, when I play the Windows 10 device test sound. Only the Windows sound is affected. Mpd of the host is playing just fine meanwhile. I am using ich9 as emulated card, which is detected and installed correctly. The VM is using vfio-igd passthrough, so vnc or spice are not used. I tried to match the Windows driver

rtc in /proc/interrupts
Hi - I am using centos 4.6 on an ebox 4300. Everything seems to be working except the /proc/interrupts rtc is always constant. On other machines the rtc (which ztdummy from asterisk) is always incrementing. the uhci_hcd and ehci_hcd are both running. What can cause this? alsa issue with asound.conf
I am using alsa with asterisk. The asound.conf is below. When I start asterisk with /etc/asound.conf present I get errors on the console that: chan_alsa.c:304 alsa_card_init: snd_pcm_open failed: Invalid argument If I remove the asound.conf asterisk starts up and works. However I NEED the asound.conf for another application. What might be the issue here? THanks jerry /etc/asound.conf

Only stereo sound with gtx570 over hdmi (regression)
Hello Ben, The working kernel code I based my investigation was a 1.3.17 + gentoo patch (so yes, pretty old) The new one below, not working is the vanilla 3.19 (from the gentoo repo, should be identical to the latest 3.19 stable) I've narrowed down the issue to the size of the eld. The new patch (that indeed uses drm_eld_size) (with this patch, I have a working 3.19 kernel): I will need to

Disabling sound chip
01:00.1 Audio device [0403]: NVIDIA Corporation High Definition Audio Controller [10de:0be3] (rev a1) I don't want that seen by the sound software. That's the sound chip on my video card, probably there for the HDMI output. For some reason, that sound device takes preference over my USB headphones and it is really annoying I tried creating /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist with the following

Problem with Centos & Alsa on reboot
I have a number of machines using Centos 6.8 They have M-Audio sound cards. When I set the output levels using alsamixer and save using 'alsactrl store' [creating a requested directory] the settings do not restore on reboot. I have no idea why they don't. running 'alsactrl restore' works so the settings are being saved. I think the on board card settings are loaded OK

Message from syslogd@localhost ... kernel:Disabling IRQ #17
" Message from syslogd at localhost at Aug 27 08:57:53 ... kernel:Disabling IRQ #17" is the message I got on all my terminal windows at the time indicated. What is it complaining about? What should I do about it? I got some information from dmesg. It mentions IRQ 17, but the only error is from before the most recent hibernation. Here are some excerpts, in order from dmesg: SELinux:
