Rsync 4TB datafiles...?
I need to rsync 4 TB datafiles to remote server and clone to a new oracle
database..I have about 40 drives that contains this 4 TB data. I would like
to do rsync from a directory level by using --files-from=FILE option. But
the problem is what will happen if the network connection fails the whole
rsync will fail right.
rsync -a srchost:/ / --files-from=dbf-list
and dbf-list would contain this:

Weird performance problem
Hi,
I'm running a CentOS 4. server and I sometimes face a weird problem.
It is a weird performance problem, and here is how I discovered it.
This server runs OpenVZ virtual machines, and one of them is an asterisk
server for my personal use. The first symptom of the problem is that
the voice quality became flaky. So I logged on the server to see what
could be eating cpu cycles, when I

Error in as.environment(pos): using 'as.environment(NULL)' is defunct
Hello,
I?m using R 2.11.1 with Tinn-R 1.17.2.4.
I hope the given informations are enough (it?s my first entry here)
The as.environment(pos) error appears in using the following code which
should open a function in an other R-file.
Here some extractions of the code:

HZ<-tclVar(seq(length=a,from=1,by=0)) #(a is defined by a
tkentry-element)
VZ<-tclVar(seq(length=a,from=1,by=0))

Is it good to go, or not ?
I really hope someone who have experience with it willing to share with

Issues to manage RAM on openvz guests
Hi all,
I'm playing with virsh, and I succeed to mange easily some KVM nodes.
But I have issues to size RAM of openvz guests.
virsh set by default the the memory to 256M on each guest instead of that I
specify in the XML
I have to modify by end the variable PHYSPAGES on each
/etc/vz/conf/id_of_my_vz.conf
Please follow the XML dump and the steps that I did.
Cheers,Aurelien

Rsync recursion
Hello,
I'm trying to break up my rsync process by separating a directory tree
into multiple rsync processes because I'm witnessing some errors trying
to rsync large directory trees on Windows machines. After breaking up
the tree I tried to rsync each individual directory starting from the
bottom directory on up using the command:
foreach ($array as $directory){ /* $array = list of

Grub Error 22; no Windows
Hello,
I have a GridEngine setup with 5 subnodes and two RAIDS attached. I backed
up the OS drive - 120GB - to an external hard drive - 500GB - using
ddrescue. The OS drive is partitioned as:
sda1 has the OS and is about 7 GB
sda2 has /var and is about 4 GB
sda3 has swap and is about 1 GB
After backing up, there were 4KB of errors, but all at the end of the disk
around 118GB. This used to be

Decent Performance
Hi all,
I am trying to get some decent speed out of a vanilla Debian (Proxmox) box and
am running out of ideas. Basically I can exchange data at 110MB/sec (raw, nfs,
ftp) but not with Samba shares.
I tried almost every samba tuning tip I could find to no avail. The only
optimisation left to smb.conf at the moment is debug level = 0. As one can see
the robocopy throughput is merely half of what

mdadm help
Hey List,
So I had a 4 drive software RAID 5 set up consisting of /dev/sdb1,
/dev/sdc1, /dev/sdd1 and /dev/sde1. I reinstalled my OS and after the
reinstall I made the mistake of re-assembling the array incorrectly by
typing "sudo mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdd
/dev/sde" in a moment of stupidity.
Obviously this didn't work and the array wouldn't mount and

LVM problem after adding new (md) PV
Hello,
I have a weird problem after adding new PV do LMV volume group.
It seems the error comes out only during boot time. Please read the story.
I have couple of 1U machines. They all have two, four or more Fujitsu-Siemens
SAS 2,5" disks, which are bounded in Raid1 pairs with Linux mdadm.
First pair of disks has always two arrays (md0, md1). Small md0 is used
for booting and the rest - md1

OpenVZ with asterisk 13
Dear Mitul,
I already told my boss about it, I really want a single box, no virtual,
but my boss insist.
He said that openvz use less resource then KVM (or other virtual for cloud).
I really need a solid analysis to argue with him.
On the other hand, dahdi cannot be installed in openvz virtual server.
I dont have any experience with openvz at all.
Thx,

Filesystem too large...
I need to setup a 3.27TB ext3 filesystem using -i 1024 and -b 1024.
When I try to format this partition I get the "Filesystem too large."
error. Are there any plans to update these limits? are there any
patches already available that I can try out? Or am I just SOL here?
