On Fedora, kernel update resets /var/run/asterisk owner to root.root
On Fedora 20, every time the kernel updates, /var/run/asterisk owner is set to root.root. I'm running asterisk under user asterisk. Is there any way to keep /var/run/asterisk as asterisk.asterisk. Or do I find a new place to put asterisk.pid? sean

Problems getting 1.6 to run with user asterisk and group asterisk
I've built SVN-trunk-r167180 and try to start it with: asterisk -f -C /etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf which results in: Unable to open pid file '/var/run/asterisk.pid': Permission denied Unable to bind socket to /var/run/asterisk.ctl: Permission denied However, /etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf has: astrundir => /var/run/asterisk runuser = asterisk rungroup = asterisk The directory,

Why asterisk down when inet server down?
We have a 10.10.0.0 internal network. The asterisk server - 10.10.10.180 - has a PRI connection to a T-1. Another server is the router to the internet. All phones in the office and the workstations are on the network. Most of the internal phones are aastra 9133i's. runuser: /dev/null permission denied when init script is run via service
Hi, I have problem with runuser utility and permission to /dev/null. runuser is called from init script. When init script is run /etc/init.d/callrec start, then there are no problems with permissions, but when init script is called via service callrec start. Then runuser starts complaining about permissions. runuser: /dev/null: Permission denied What is strange is that I do not redirect to

64bit: any problems with asterisk?
We're getting a new server. I'm considering installing 64bit fedora rather than the 32bit we use now. Is 64 bit a problem with asterisk? Any issues we should expect? sean

Have you enabled DTMF logging and seen the DTMF codes being recognised by Asterisk? I had a bunch of soft phones that I had to change to using ?sip info? for the DTMF signalling as the RFC signalling was not always being recognised. This would cause transfers to appear as if the user had not dialled any digits. On 20/12/2014 20:52, "sean darcy" <seandarcy2 at gmail.com> wrote:

I wonder if I could have that patch, maybe I could add it to my fail2ban regexp and if you have the correct regexp, I would apperciate that as well. Thanks. OK, Thanks. I have a couple of questions -- the line numbers do not match exactly, so can you tell me a couple of lines before and after the line in question? Also, when will this be logged, if its only during sip debug, I need to change it to log when I can see it more readily. Thanks. Can asterisk be run as non root anymore?
safe_asterisk used to work fine but with v1.0.3 I am getting all kinds of permission errors, intermittant failures, etc. Even with file permissions relaxed and ownership set to asterisk it craps out. Seems to work fine when run as root. Comments??? -- Andrew McRory - President/CTO Linux Systems Engineers, Inc. - http://www.linuxsys.com Located in beautiful Tallahassee, Florida Office

/var/run/asterisk.ctl configuration
People who use "asterisk -r" already know that if you don't try it as root (for example webservers), you don't get access. Of course you can chmod it aech time you start asterisk, but that gets annoying after two times. I have made a patch (against HEAD and 1.0.5) which makes it possible for you (=asterisk admin) to configure the ownership and permissions of
