SPNs for a samba server
Hi!
I'm not sure I understand how SPNs are registered in the AD domain.
I know when a regular samba server is joined to an AD domain, a few
SPNs are registered - namely, CIFS/$netbios_name and each for
CIFS/$netbios_aliases (where netbios name and netbios aliases are
the parameters in smb.conf - yes I know these are obsolete, but in
this case they're actually used for non-obsolete task).

Failed to modify SPNs on error in module acl: Constraint violation during LDB_MODIFY (19)
Hi,
sometimes I see following in the logs:
/source4/rpc_server/drsuapi/writespn.c:234(dcesrv_drsuapi_DsWriteAccountSpn)
Failed to modify SPNs on
CN=PCNAME,CN=Computers,DC=DOMAIN,DC=NAME,DC=NAME,DC=de: error in module acl:

In the net i found this "explanation":

Adam, you already tried my suggestions?
What do you see here:

^^^^^^
So read the links below and post your results
The event id you showed, for now can be ignored. Inrelevant (for now).
And mostlikly wil disapear when you added/fixed the "correct" spn's

Failed to modify SPNs
Hello,
I've got some log entries like these on our DCs:
Failed to modify SPNs on CN=db1,CN=Computers,DC=mydom,DC=lan: acl: spn validation failed for spn[TERMSRV/DB1.MYDOM] uac[0x1000] account[db1$]
hostname[(null)] nbname[mydom] ntds[(null)] forest[mydom.lan] domain[mydom.lan]
At first I thought it was about missing SPN entries, but adding these did not resolve the problem:

INIT: Id "snmp" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Hello all,
I recently started seeing these messages on the consoles of three
production Centos 5.2 servers. They have been occurring nonstop for the
past few days and show up routinely every five minutes.

INIT: Id "x0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Hello,
I''m running a SLES10 SP1 Server as a Dom0 and as DomU.
I have allocated 1024 Mb RAM to the DomU and one virtual processor (physical processor is a dual core Intel Xeon 3.4 Ghz).
A warning is regularly displayed on the standard output :
INIT: Id "x0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Any idea where that come from ?
Thanks in advance.

  I have 2 domain controllers with samba4, and i realized i have some
missing spns for the second domain controller:

respawning dead tinc process
I have tinc 1.1pre11 running on various routers and linux cloud servers. On one of the cloud servers, under Ubuntu 12.04, tinc is mysteriously dying once in a while, leaving a dangling PID. I have been unable to track down why it is dying, but it happens infrequently enough that I care less about why it is dying than how to robustly respawn it when it dies.
Before I re-invent the wheel, has

Hi all,
SPN = servicePrincipalName
A simple search returning all servicePrincipalName declared in your AD:
ldbsearch -H $sam serviceprincipalname=* serviceprincipalname
An extract from result concerning a lambda client:

respawning dead tinc process
I?ve been having the same issue with Ubuntu, thankfully we have access to Upstart:
```
start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE!=lo)
stop on stopping network-services
author "Mark Lopez"
description "Tinc Upstart Job"
version "0.1"
env network=master
respawn
exec /usr/sbin/tincd -n "$network" -D --debug=3 --logfile
Samba4 DC, SPNs and a complex Windows stack
Hello,
We're using Samba 4.1.11 as domain controllers and over the past two weeks I've run into several issues with unrelated Windows software, the problems of which all point to Kerberos authentication and SPNs as being somehow involved. If there are many more issues it might start to get politically difficult *not* to blame the DCs, and I don't want to point fingers at Samba.
